Hi guys,

I have a full formed terrorgheist with the wings missing (long story below for anyone interested).

Can anyone think of a good solution other than having a wingless Terrorgheist? My skills are pretty limited in terms of crafting, but I'd be happy to give anything a go...or pass the task onto my arty brother!

Story:
Drove down from a tournament with some friends on Christmas eve, and my old Polo broke down on the motorway. Stuck for 5 hours waiting for recovery which cost a bomb.

I empty the car of pretty much everything (except the TG wings of all things) and leave it on the road planning on getting it scrapped.

On the day it is to be scrapped (bit too much of a coincidence...) it gets stolen, even though it could only go 10 MPH due to a messed up clutch.

When it is recovered by Police, they can't reach my phone number and it is put into a pound where it slowly builds up a whopping £400 bill before I hear about it and can contact them, and manage to halve the bill not to get my car back, but to have them destroy it.

So, my car breaks down, gets stolen, is recovered, and I get charged. But the thing that hurt the most was realising my Terrorgheist was missing its wings :(

I bought a TG and its thorax came broken, so it couldn't support the wings. Here's what I did with it:

So, you could A)be inspired by my idea or B) maybe trade for the wings that I now have as bits...

Hi guys, thanks for your condolences and suggestions. From initial google searches, I couldn't find any TG wings on bits sites.

Alabaster, I'm not sure if I have any bits of my own that would be worth a trade like that. TG wings are indeed a rarity. However, I treat this as an opportunity and I like the idea of TG like yours that is a lot different to the standard (which I also have).

What do you think of trying to make it look like the head and body are rising up out of the ground? From the TG description, it mentions some kind of Dragon Grave type place in a desert, so I could do some sand dune stuff like I saw in Pirate Robot Ninja's TK themed army.

I was trying to find a Zombie Dragon conversion that was basically just its head coming out of a cave and it looked great, but I can't find it. Maybe some of the older members would have it or know where it is on this site. I think was facing off against the Green Knight. I think it would look amazing coming out of the ground, like a TG that has Entombed Beneath the Sand.

As far as a trade, I was thinking like maybe a single Crypt Horror or something to that effect.

You can build your own wings with a drillbit, wire, foil and green stuff. Form the wire into a framework of the bones in the wing. Drill holes into the wing mounting sockets and put the wire into them like you are pinning them. Super glue them into place. Once you have the shape of the wings bone structure, put foil over the frame work and shape into the wings. Tear/ cut in places to get the right look. Then super glue them in place. Use green stuff to make the bones bulk up and look right. Sculpt in rotten flesh details. Some texture can be added with pva glue and tissue paper/paper towel. Soak the tissue paper in glue and place it in places to create skin and leathery patches. You can use some fine flock/texture too.

There is a lot of options here, you just need to use some creativity and trial and error. You will get it. Let me know if you need more help.

Side note, you can have the wings folded up tight along side the body to make them easier to create and have less space between the bones.

Now, that probably sounds simple, but as an English teacher the look on my face reading those instructions is probably similar to if I told my Year 7s to compare the portrayal of fallen protagonists in Paradise Lost and Othello.

I might pass that suggestion to my brother though and ask if he's got the time or craft knowledge for that sort of thing...actually, I could go to the Tech department!
Thanks for the suggestion still. I need to get those skills!

On a side note, this use of (I think) our grave terrain stuff and a TG is awesome: http://targetpaint.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/terrorgheist-conversion-completed.html?m=1

That warseer one is the best and doesn't look TOO complicated! I love the thinness of the wings. Cheers, Najo for taking the time to find these links. Do you do a lot of crafting?

Ok reading the story left me kinda between charity feelings and disbelief.. O.O

For the body of the tg...it may sound uncreatively, but have you thought about a snake kin mount? Would fit well for lahmian vampires in my eyes, and shouldn't be so hard to convert. At least I'd be confident to make it myself, and I think my conversion skills are not above standards. Alternatively, can you get your hands on any kinds of monster bitz? I melted the giant kits together with a old he dragon to create a shaggoth, so even more in undead armies, there are possibilities without limits to create a unique monster

I don't do a lot of scratch building, but I do build my own terrain and can fix models with green stuff etc. If I hit a modelling project that requires these skills I watch tutorials, then take a deep breath and dive in. Its always been worth it. Last thing I did like this was hacked up a mortis engine to make hexwraith champions and spirit/regeneration tokens. They turned out really good and was worth it.

Give some wings a go, they might take a few goes but overall shouldn't be to hard once you get the hang of working with wire and greenstuff.
