Hello all! I'm relatively knew to Vampire Counts, so please forgive me if I say something which would be stupid to do in a Vampire Counts army. Now to the 1000 pts list.

Von Carstein Thrall
Tomb Blade, Heavy Armour, Shield.
121 Pts

Necromancer
Level 2 Wizard, Cloak of Mists and Shadows.
145 Pts

Skeletons
20 with Spears and Full Command.
205 Pts

Skeletons
20 with Spears and Full Command.
205 Pts

6 Fell Bats
120 Pts

Black Coach
200 Pts

The general idea, is that the Thrall goes into one of the Skeleton Squads and the necromancer will go into the other Skeleton squad. The Fell Bats are there to go Cannon Crew Hunting, so they don't blow my Black Coach to kingdom-come. What does everyone think?

as a basic list very solid

personally a few things
1 - you dont need 6 fell bats, take 5 and use the points elsewhere
2 - on that note i woulkd suggest a wolf thrall - that is thrall + flayed hauberk, great weapon and wolf form - comes in at 134pts. Makes him very effective for busting chariots etc
3 - the black coach is lovely but a better use of the points would be 5 black knights + standard and barding and 5 dire wolves; that gives you a hammer unit that is probably stronger than the coach and another unit for flanking/catching cannonballs etc.
4 - most people dont like spears on skellies - personally i dont care but the arguement is that 5 WS2, S3 attacks wont do much anything so you could drop those and free up 40pts (which could buy a unit of ghouls - very good)

Last thing - you might want to consider taking another necro - magic superiority is good....

Good luck

Okay a few things to say about your suggestions,
1) You have a point about the Fell Bats.
2) Added him, seems very useful.
3) I changed the Black Coach to add a unit of 4 Dire Wolves with a Doom Wolf, however, after adding another Necromancer and making a Wolf Thrall, had no points left for a unit of Black Knights.
4) I have actually found out 11 attacks from Skeles with Spears can actually do something to most units (as long as they are T 3). Plus I have a personal dislike for Ghouls, I don't know why, but i just don't like them.

So now its,

Von Carstein Thrall
Flayed Hauberk, Great Weapon, Wolf Form.
134 Pts

Necromancer
Level 2 Wizard, Cloak of Mists and Shadows.
145 Pts

Necromancer
Level 2 Wizard, Power Familiar
150 Pts

Skeletons
20 with Spears and Full Command.
205 Pts

Skeletons
20 with Spears and Full Command.
205 Pts

4 Dire Wolves with a Doom Wolf
60 Pts

5 Fell Bats
100 Pts

Total Points = 999 Pts

Is that any better?

List looks good, but like DH said, remove the spears. This frees up points plus gives your skellies a 4+ AS, whereas with spears they got a 5+, and because their main goal is to keep up units you would want a better AS.
If you do this, you could change your doomwolf to a normal direwolf (don't really need a doom wolf) and take another unit of 5 ditewolves, giving you even more flanking possibilities.

Also, you might want to give your necromancer with the PF the Book of Arkhan + dispell scroll. This item is almost a must in an army (because it's so friggin good)

Alright then, you guys win, no spears, no doom wolf, and another squad of Dire Wolves. But Redna, it actually only gives a 5+ armour save in close combat. And the Necromancer with PF has been changed.

O wait, you didn't give them light armour, didn't see that. Well, still, higher AV and lower point cost beats dubble attacks for tarpit units (and yeah, they are the tarpits as you won't expect them to do any killing. Not with ws 2 and a very low initiative) especially now that you got 2 units of fast cavalry which can charge in the flank of the unit being held by the skeletons. With the Fell Bats and the wolfform vampire you won't need to worry about the opponent shooting.
