Ok, i know is little bit tricky to cast, and surely dangerous, but think about this...

Take Vampire lord, with lore of shadows, and flying, and 1 vamp, with that scroll that any double is iresistible.

Then, fly with lord on flank of enemy army, and cast pit of shades (with some luck, it will pass), then when you cast it, swap lord with vamp, and use scroll to cast purple sun.
After that, cast steed of shadows on vamp, to bring him back closer to units.

I know is highly unlikely to get all that, but if you manage, damage could be really big, and you will recover a lot of dices, so they will be able to cast some more damage on opponents ;)

Surely thats like saying: "Cast Gaze of Nagash and Curse of Years at one unit and you get the same damage as a Gaze and Curse put together!" These spells aren't getting any benefit from being cast together, and I can't see Pit and Purple Sun doing too much differently in any other order or proximity - they're just two high-ish output spells if used in the right situation.

Hmmm ... smart thing is that he uses his Lord for casting a nasty spell without endangering him (the Shadow swap ability).

That was the point, cast it, and then swap :)
and cast some more :D

I guess that works, but you can do that with almost any spell from shadow and any spell from another lore. Thes just happen to be the most destructive and obvious ones to say. It sounds quite a destructive thing to do, just - its useless against Elves, WoC, and anything else with average or good I tbh.

Well, yes, but as you said, you can do that with any other shadow spell and some frome other lores.
This just came as obvious combination for great damage

I was thinking something like this, using scout and shadow on a lord. The point is to use the shadow abilty to get the sun where it can do the most damage.

The pit probably requires too many dice most of the time though (excepting of course when you find that you have 10+ dice in the pool).

The important thing is to cast a spell from Shadow successfully and without it being dispelled. Very difficult, especially once your opponent realises what is going on. I'm not sure that it's worth it, bearing in mind the limited dice that you have to draw off dispels first, then still cast not only the shadow spell, but then the sun too.

I think a better spell to use might be Melkoth's Mystifying Miasma, reduce your target unit's initiative by D3, then when they're hit by the Purple Sun many more of them will die. And since that is also a Shadow spell you can still do the teleporting trick.

I just tried looking in the rulebook in the magic phase section and I didn't see anything about casting while in combat. Is this allowed? If so it might be useful for a casting Lord to take Shadow. If he finds himself in combat just cast a Shadow spell and trade places with a fighty character/sacrificial Necromancer.

This information is in the BRB where the general magic types (augments, hexes, etc) are described, not in the particular lores. IIRC, hexes and augments can be cast into combat.

Whether or not a caster in combat can cast these spells is not something I remember.
