Battle Standard Bearer, Dread Knight, Great Weapon, Heavy Armour, Lore of the Vampires, Quickblood, Wizard Level 2, Nightshroud, Seed of Rebirth

He is in an army with a tooled out strigoi and mortis engine. How would you tweak him to up damage out put or mitigation?

Unless you have something specific in mind I would loose Dread Knight. Firstly I think it's not really needed as you already have pretty good WS with rerolls from QB and secondly you don't want to be forced to issue/accept challenges with your rather squishy vampire bsb. Thats alot of points.
I'd give him something like beguile instead so that it will be harder for the enemy to grab those juicy BSB points.

At Johnny: I think the dude has no horse. And lances without horses look silly, so you can't take them.

Back to topic: Putting him on horse is a valid option to increase the AS, provided you have some BKs in the army. Then i'd agree with Johnny.
Seed of rebirth could then be combined with dragon helmet, which will give you 1+, 2++ vs. fire and 4+++ (assuming mortis engines are near)

For the footy version:
If you want to stick with dreadknight I'd swap night shroud for glittering scales. Mundane weapons will hurt your guy anyway. With WS8 and glittering scales you will most often be hit on 5s and sometimes even on 6s.

Prio on a BSB should be protection. So I would not recommend increasing damage output any further.

At Zhatan: QB does not provide rerolls when using a GW.

Mmm, tough if he's on foot. I'd normally say enchanted shield + dawnstone + sword of might, but 3+ rerollable is quite mediocre. As is the 3+ save with the nightshroud.

You could try seed of rebirth, dragonhelm, HA+shield, sword of might. That'll give him a 3+Regen (4+) with a pair of mortis engines, and a 2++ vs fire. He won't have any protection against KB though.

For vampire powers, I'd say either quickblood + beguile or Aura of Dark Majesty + Beguile. The latter will make him more survivable and help you break enemies in combat.

Really depends where you're planning on putting him, though.
