[/align]Hello Im going to a tourny next weekend, there are restriction with max 9 PD pr. turn and bound items counts as one. I would like imput on this army:

Lord and Heroes
Vampire lord, lvl 3, master of the black arts, lord of the dead, flying horror, Helm of commandment, skull staff 450 p

Vampire, lvl 2, dark acolyte, lord of the dead, flayed hauberk, dispel scroll 220 p

Wight King, barded skeletal steed, sword of kings, enchanted shield

Core units
20 x skeletons, full command, warbanner 205 p
25 x skeletons, full command, banner of endless nightmare 245 p
10 x ghouls 80 p
5 x direwolfs 40 p
5 x direwolfs 40 p

Special units
5 x Black knights, standard, champ, strigios banner, barding 207 p

Rare
1 x Varghulf 175 p
4 x Wraiths 200 p

Plan is to deploy with a steady center with a lot of combat resolution in the two skeleton units. I have a powerful magicphase, my lord can escape with his flying. The knights, varghulf and wraiths goes to the flanks with the wolfs.

So what do you think?
 
limit on PD level in a tourney? that's different, kinda cool but i think dwarfs would have too big an advantage with how many DD they can have in a list that size.

but if your going for magical dominance that seems pretty solid but if you could manage some pts for an extra wraith to negate ranks that would be better. although you could pin in the front with the wraiths and vargulf and hit the flanks with the wolves and knights the one extra wraith gives you the option. you could lose a 3 skellies from each unit to get the pts for it because your lord should be five pts less if i'm not mistaken. it'll require the attention of at a couple InVo in the beginning of the game but you i think it would be worth it personally

Rules that restrict magic like that are retarded, IMO. Do they have similar rules that limit other phases, put restrictions on shooting, movement and close combat? I'm guessing not. I don't mind comp rules that penalize for going beyond a 'reasonable' level of magic/shooting/whatever, but the outright restriction erks me.

In almost every case, if you dominate in one phase you do so at the cost of 1 or more other phases. If it were me, I'd just spit on the magic phase, ignore it, and go pure combat. Lots of fast in-your-face units. Black knights, blood knights, vargs, zombie dragon. 2 wight kings. Maybe 5 levels of magic, if only because they would come with my fighty vamps.

You list looks fine though. Pretty standard balanced approach.
 
Australian tournies have a similiar rule.

Limit of 9 PD used a turn.
No special characters.
No duplicating of rares.
No more then 2 of the same special.

There are some exceptions and specific army rules. Luckily my VC army is made with them in mind.

Overall I have found it greatly improves my enjoyment of the games.

The selection limits go a long way to keeping shooting/combat in check so I think its only fair that magic has a few limits.
 
I vastly prefer restrictions instead of comp. Fantasia Fanatic had a cap at 10 power dice, 2 scrolls, and no more than one large target in the army. All good, imo.
 
Well I think restrictions are fine.. It helps for a more blanced game. But back to the list what do you think of it? Should I drop both wolfs for a unit of bats?
 
After some play testing I have change the list a little and included 2 x 3 bats instead of 2 x 5 wolfs and 5 skeletons. They are much better and much more usefull. Now it looks like this:
