Found one of my old poems! Sweet. For those that have read '1001 Arabian Nights' there should be some strong reminiscent moments here.

"Say unto him that taunteth us with fortune's perfidy, 'At whom but those whose heads are high doth
Fate its arrows fling?'
If that the hands of Time have made their plaything of our life, Till for its long protracted kiss ill-hap
upon us spring..."
----Unknown poet, 1001 Arabian Nights
Thus is The Legend of Romni, the Eternal Wanderer.
So spoke the grizzled shape in shadow swathed,
and with a sigh grew twofold.
Such is man whos thirst to slake in waters of life untold,
gathers his robes and stands tall and bold.
Greedy for life without compare here he stands under Nox,
Upon his brow the hunters mark with scarlet affection resides.
Saffron, vivid, absorbing the essence of the night.
Behold! Behind him fast approaching over yonder dune,
a plume of dust heralds terrible despair.
"Ride, Ride!" Ghostly voices cry! Great, Macabre mounts do stride
Forth for to appear before unfaithful eyes of Man.
Their skulls encased in Iron, plumed with tail of the Mythical beasts,
Manticore; Great Serpents, Even Dragon bones doth widely gape
over apparitions three, distended for the feasts.
Chests banded in iron rings of mighty make,
between each a sea of rings of same cold ore;
Their arms are hewn as owken wood, mighty in girth!
In each hand a weapon with terrible thirst to slake.
The beast upon which Death arrives is ne'er undone,
For 'neath the barding bone and sinew stretch for stride.
Great Desert nor mighty plain knew not their touch,
Harmful to all things living, indeed the Scarabs feigned fear!
Verily, yes, pursuit has done harm irreparable,
harried from dune to dune without respite,
Man in eternity is yet only man.
Stride upon stride innumerable proceed,
Yet man is numbered. Yet, As is feared to see
the horses of grotesque flesh and steel and shadowed wings
ethereal trumpeters are the harbinger of such Wights, such Ghouls.
Words remembered by a frozen lips cry out an unintelligible tongue,
"Flight before the tenfold might of Beelzebub bears no shame,
but for simple combat and sure death is folly!
Wings unto my feet must grow, for these demons bear no name,
Save Death on silent hooves, So thus must I cower as 'twould seem,
Without a glimmer bearing hope for my form. The scythe gleams bright
in the the night, as my soul to reap! Fly, Fly! One cannot stand before Death!"
Grim, the path made hazardous travel, Nox fickle whims chasing stars
from the skein of night and eyes useless before return of Light.
Harken, listen! What light on western sight, 'Tis Mars!
Red shines the Light, an eye upon man eternal
Where man stand may no other, Tyr holds true;
Man against Man, Hammer amidst the middle.
A cry arisen! Tortured lungs release exultation;
"The scarlet eye doth indeed perceive my plight!
It doth perceive my futile flight, where one God stands
another may move, Pray, Pray interdiction comes
for before another moment all becomes undone!"
Tongue across sanded skin rough as stone yet twice as dry,
offer sorry supplications, penitent before Gods in truth.
