Ya sorry about the mixup in terminology there.

I like attacking in initiative order with the vamp as its a fair trade off for having STR 7 every turn of combat and it bypasses the high elf 2+ ward banner.

And since your giving other characters in base contact always strike last I can usually direct my attacks before they can attack back and eliminate them.

Or as was the case in my above mentioned scaven battle I destroyed the furnace before it had a chance to swing.

Deffinetly a bonus but why not go for a lance instead of the Great Weapon then go for a potion of strength. This way you will always get to reroll and you will get to keep the high strength for a second round of combat?

I toyed with this idea but instead opted for the higher protection of the cloak.

Then I gave the lance and str potion to my vampire army battle standard so he to has initiative order attacks of str 7 on the charge than a follow up str 8 if the unit or character im fighting is a touph nut to crack. Both vampires have Red Fury.
