just wondering is it possible for snow to cause rust on metal?

thinking about rusing my grave guards but i dont know if snow can cause rust or not and since I am basing my models in snow and I want it to be as close to realistic as possible =\ (im from texas i dont know what real snow is lol)

Rust is the result of a natural reaction which occurs between most metals and air, called oxidation. This process of oxidation is accelerated by an increased amount of moisture within the atmosphere, which can be a result of natural occurrence such as rain and snow, but also the metals can be effected by corrosive agents such as salt water. So yes, snow will cause oxidation and the result of rust upon metal which is what your were asking.
