question: how to paint rust.

Just a quick question. how Do you paint on rust?

Your advice will be much appreciated.

Once you paint the metAl aplly a small amount of watered down orange and then a brown wash

As Johnny said. A good watery coat of red or orange/brown will do the trick. You can mix various colors in there to create some different effects for different stages of oxidation.

Rust
I start with a bolt gun metal base
Then i do a random stippling of scorched brown
Over the scorched brown I do a light stippling of mechrite red
Over the Mechrite red, I do a stippling of Macharius solar orange
Depending on the look I want, I would wash it with devlan mud.
Then I usually ding it up with one of the silver colors.
Or
Base coat dark flesh
Stiple of vermin brown
Stiple of blazing orange
Ding up with bolt gun

Also, if you want to "edging" of exposed metal, use some graphite on your finger and rub over the bit!

I do it the GW way: Ground dark brown, then, with a brush, dab orange spots over the brown. Finish with drybrushing Boltgun Metal or the metal type you like. Looks cool every time
