Project 1: Slaanesh Chaos Cheerleader

Paint used: Imperial primer, Underbelly Blue on skin & Hammerfall Khaki on clothes.

I tried to avoid painting the jewelry, but not sure if this is the correct technique.

I was not satisfied with the imperial primer, it takes longer and I did not like the results I got. Seems like the paint chips off.

Next step:
Purple wash on the skin
Green, yellow, brown color in tunic/helmet to give a sense of rust/wear.

Good to see your plog up and running :)

I take it that you used Imperial Primer over white metal, if so I can only recommend you to use spray paint to prime in the future. I have never tried Imperial Primer but my guess is that is doesn’t stick as well as the spray variant does. Might even be worth to consider to strip the model above and start again but that might be unnecessary.

She looks good so far. I wouldn't worry to much about getting paint on the jewellery. The important thing is to paint the "deepest" areas first and then painting areas further and further out (which you have done here (skin before jewellery)) as this reduces the risk of getting paint on areas you have already painted.

Also, how do you plan to paint the gloves?

Project 1: Slaanesh Chaos Cheerleader
Paint used: Agrax Earthshade, Drucchi Violet, Gryphonne Sepia & Reikland Fleishshade (I think)

I attempted to turn the skin and the tunic into the final colors by using washes. I am not satisfied with the results, but I cannot strip the model (head & arms fall off). I have to say it doesnt look that bad life...not sure why the photos really make it look horrible. I need to improve my picture taking techniques.

@Mad 'At:
Not sure atm, but I was considering leather-ish or deep purple. Any suggestions?

Next step:
Water down (a lot) my violet wash and give it a couple more layers to the skin to attempt to give a purple tone.
Paint all jewelry black again, and then paint it bright orange.

I like how thorough you are with writing out what paint you've use and what will be the next step :D
and the fancy moving picture :|

I think it looks good so far. Especially how the purpleish tone of her skin complements the yellowish cloth.
As you say the skin could use some more purple wash, but I would also advise to try and give it some more depth. An extra wash of watered down black could work quite well, but perhaps some highlights could be in order. Something as simple as a light drybrush of white before applying the extra washes could some a long way I think. Something similar could be used on the cloth as well if you feel it is needed.

Deep purple for the gloves sounds wonderful. I was only asking because I was worried you were going to try for black, which is a very difficult colour to pull off.

The horns look cool but could use an extra highlight of white at the very tips. If you keep the paint well watered down and the brush with quite little paint in it you should be able to achieve a smooth transition too.

Also, I think you model might be suffering from a pretty common problem with miniature, something which has troubled me as well. And that is a too good a camera. It picks up details that for the human eye probably would go unnoticed, quite annoying really.

Looking forward for more.

Project 1: Slaanesh Chaos Cheerleader
Paint used: Citadel Drucchi Violet, Vallejo Orange Fire, Vallejo Black, Badak Black

I tried correcting mistakes using Mad's suggestions: Highlights on the skin with white, and Drucchi Violet & Badak Black to give more shadow to the skin. I then recolor the jewels black, and used Orange fire. I added a little white to the horns, but it may require more. I also decided to take pictures farther away in attempt to give a better idea on how it really looks. I have the tendency to look at my mini at 2cm from my eye and not the recommended 15cm+. Day 2 pictures (improved?) http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d53/Realjuan/Pleasant/FirstDay2.gif .

Next Step:
Find a way to fix the black & orange that got into locations that is not suppose to be. I will also add some wash on the orange to give it a more "rust" look, probably Devlan Mud.

Project 1: Slaanesh Chaos Cheerleader
Paint used: Liche Purple, Scorch Brown, Menoth White Highligh

Finished? At least most of it. This is the farthest I ever painted one single model, and I am not sure what are the next steps. The skull + gloves + hands require more work, highlights, depth, etc. but I fear if I try too much I may do more harm than good. I intentionally left the holes in the chain black, and even when over them when they were cover. I suppose I should had use the cloths color instead.

Next Step:
Finishing touches, and start doing a 20x20 base. Idea is for her to be standing in a pile of bones. Sadly I will have to do the bones myself, so looking for greenstuff tutorials atm. I may show it to a friend for a quick peer-preview + better pictures before submitting for Golden Bat competition.

I was confused there after I looked away and the picture changed, damn brain ninja.

Got to say, I know she is a cheerleader but god she would be an awesome sorceress herself in her own right.
Keep up the great work mate, it's always refreshing to see strange new models. :-D

@Mad 'At So you are saying that you expect a bad result and didnt tell me? *hurt*

@Duke I will stop using the Gif, because too many people have been complaining. I will try to do a quick editing to put all picture in correct size, and next to each other. I still want to put multiple angles.

Project 1: Slaanesh Chaos Cheerleader
Paint used: Vallejo Orange Fire, Scortch Brown, Menoth White Highligh, Devlan Mud, and unmarked red wash.

This was a rushing phase to have a decent model to join the Golden Bat competition, and I suppose I am proud that I made it with only 7 minutes passed the deadline. The main goal was to try and finish the Pom Poms and to attempt to make a base full of bones. Sadly my bones look like something else, so I think I may have to do another one.

Next step:
I will be pretty busy this week, but I will take a few break and at least one afternoon to do some bones, and make a scenery to set this model. A pile of bones were she can stand and cheer.

Wow, they do look like something else, fossilized but still.
Totally workable for her though, beeing domina of torment and all:perv:
I do think they look good as bones albeit a bit large, MI bones.
The ones on the right, back , is best.
Just try make smaller version of them all. Practice makes perfect.

Try find a pile of old skellies on ebay. Usually supercheap and you'll have basing material for an army

I was only unsure about how the dark purple of the gloves would look after the skin turned out to be so purple, but you managed to work is out real nicely. Same goes for the orange, wasn't sure about that being the right colour, but I couldn't think of anything better so I kept my mouth closed about that, and in the end I think orange really was the right call ;)

I hope to see you tackle more miniatures in the future.

OHHHH, they're bones!!! Lol sorry I commented in the GB thread on those, thought they were purposefully made to be weiners lol reminds me a lot of when I tried sculpting boobs on Tyranid raveners for fiends of slaanesh and my sculpting skills caused them to be about three times the size I intended. Horrifying. Lol

Project 1: Slaanesh Chaos Cheerleader - Podium
Paint used: None

Inspiration: A church an hour or so from Prague.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sedlec_Ossuary

This is my new attempt on creating some decent bones, a podium, and putting everything together. I personally think the ribs dont look that bad, the small bones are just too small to do much details, but everything could be improve. A nice person gave me 63 skulls, but some of them have hair/armor/details which was not my plan. What do you guy think? Hoping that the title got some female attention, what do you think gals?

day6.webp

Its only a test, not all skulls were used and some may be split into two to have more and since half of it doesnt really show.

Next step: Find a better way to do bones, and skulls. Use bones and skulls to cover the front or all the podium. I would use green stuff to glue them, and give texture to the un-bone parts.

Well after a long holiday, I think I should post the final results of this project. It was finish a while ago, but I been MIA for a while. The whole project is a gift for someone based on his own model and some of his personal details. He is a sport manager, so I figure that all sport managers need a cheerleader. The model I decided to try an imitate was:

akirgan73.files.wordpress.com_2012_12_dscn0115.jpg_b0dfe495068c065da9472e82b2717113.webp

Now back to the model:

My idea of making a fully bones/skull podium was discarded because I just cannot do decent bones atm. Some nice people gave me some skulls, and I decided to just make a "disgusting" podium with skulls coming out of it. I also try to copy the colors of his model's based.

Main color:

After a wash and a few dry brush (I think it look better live)

Final result:

If I could go back, I would take off the goblin heads, because it gives to much color. Sadly I didnt want to ruin the rest, so I didnt do it.
