If you mix it with other color, the glowing effect almost disappears. The only way is to apply it over the green paint

Just tested it on scorpion green. I applied two layers, first with just a small drop o water and second with a bit more water (but still more than half was paint) and then next to it I applied the same first layer followed by second, which was more watery (about 75% was water). Surprisingly, the first version(with second layer containing more color)
it looked better - almost like a bit thicker layer of Gloss varnish. Of course, the first version had also better glowing effect.

It seems that the brighter the base color, the less disturbing is the night color finish. According to the results, I would recommend it for colors from pure white to scorpion green(and all other colors of similar brightness). About places for application, I would recommend either deep recesses(like carved shining runes) or top parts(like edges of spirit's clothes)

And for the light power - it seems to be a bit weak, but it depends on two things. First, you have to keep the model on light, so the night color can "charge" itself. Sun or halogen lamp seems to work good. Second, with every layer of paint the luminous effect rapidly increases. Unfortunatelly, it depletes pretty quickly.

I finally finished my box of 7th edition skeletons! I gave one of the skeletons to my friend in exchange for some other bits few years ago, so I thought about how to complete the unit and I made this unit filler pictured below. The coffin is made out of icecream sticks

Very nice and strong color. However, i think you should try giving the grass (yes the grass) a drybrush of either bleached bone or graveyard earth (well, any gray-brown or khaki color). That will take the edge of the green color for a bit of a more natural look. It is ofc very personal, but i do not like the sharp green that static grass often has. Still, they are very cool in any case, and you dont have to listen to me

Love the unit filler! As for the fluo-paint yeah it can be a royal pain. I used 50-50 mixes in the last two layers I did. Just checked for my own thread and the brand is named Creall. Some weird DIY brand I never heard of but eh...

I must say I also like the contrast of the static grass, if you do drybrush it do it extremely lightly.

As far as glow paint goes I'd be keen to see the results. I've never really had much desire to play or display minis in the dark so I've not really found a use for them. I have however seen some really nice effects created with UV sensitive paints. From what I can gleam, they seem to be much thinner than these glow-in-the-dark paints and come in a range of different colours. Could be worth a trial perhaps?

I would also second Vectra's suggestion. This is something I've been doing ever since the creation of tufts. They tend to come in one colour, like all these things, which is actually very un-natural. Be careful with your drybrushing, because it's not drybrushing per se. Use any natural looking colour that compliments and is lighter than the tuft. Water your paints down almost like a wash, I'd say a consistency of 1 paint to 3 water is sufficient. Load a normal brush, not a drybrush, with the colour and take off most of the excess. Then, as if you are dry brushing, lightly brush the tuft from the top down. Grass is usually darker at the base than at the top. It really is worth a go.

Well, the main difference is that fluo paint glows under UV light. I wanted to try out paint which glows in the dark. The problem is that fluo paint has nice shiny color etc. Night paint looks like dusty varnish when applied. The only purpose of night paint is to glow in the dark I assume. Fluo paint is also for shading etc., but I have never worked with it. I would post a pic of the night color applied over paint on my palette, but I don't have camera right now and the pic I took with my old mobile phone shows basically nothing

I'm waiting for a few models I ordered from eBay and painting my undead dragon. Hope to make him look undead enough, since he has no open wounds etc. Today I missed a chance to get cheap grenadier undead war mammoth :slapface: Out of that I am basically out of models, but maybe I'll make something from my spare bits.

Also, Spirit Host and Banshee that I wanted for a long time and ordered from eBay have arrived and I already completed Banshee. Unfortunatelly, the photos doesn't show the difference in skin and clothing highlights much.

I recently decided to try and add OSL to my Necrons. I used quite simple method - I painted the surroundings of eyelids with Snot Green and added 50:50 mix of Snot Green and Scorpion Green on the edges. Here is the result:

Just love your Crons! The OSL is nice and subtle, many people (including myself) tend to go overboard with it so it looks wrong when done in a whole unit or squad.

Undead are also looking good of course but your Crons kind of steal the spotlight as they are awesomesauce.

I almost run out of models recently, but I then I remembered I had box of 6th ed. skeletons hidden mainly for converting purposes and decided to make something special out of them erv: If I don't change my mind, I'll post pictures once I finish it. Also, I thought about doing some freehand tutorials, and since I will probably paint standard bearer soon, I was just wandering if someone here would be interested

I also like the converting work you did with the skull-clad space marines. Of course, your vampire army deserves some love too, very cool throw back units. Especially the black knights, GG and that mounted BSB.
