Hi Bloodsuckers. Just a quicky to all of you in southern England......ITS BONFIRE TIME. All across Sussex, torchlit processions will be followed by outrageous fireworks, climaxing at LEWES on 5th November. It's anarchic, colourful, traditional and slightly insane. Come and support us if you can, but don't bring dogs, and never take young kids to Lewes night- it's just too full on. I'll be in full Saxon armour, so hope to see you. cheers, Jeff.

We celebrate trying to blow up the king and parliament on November 5th. However, so many people want to do so, that all the marching societies can't march on the same night. So we get a 'season' of about 3 months, with different villages and towns hosting a procession each saturday, and try to out-do each others costumes and firework displays. And drinking. And ( illegal) street explosions. First one is Uckfield, on September 3rd. It can get a bit out of hand sometimes, but it is spectacularly British, ie eccentric. The Lewes night ( the 5th) goes from about 5 pm til well after midnight, rolling tar barrels on fire down the hill, explosions, and huge quantities of alcohol, and thousands of marchers. If you can get there, you will never forget it. cheers. jeff

Or Lewes bonfire celebrations, or South Heighton bonfire society. Thanks for the interest, hope we see some of you there. Its only 20 minutes by train for DoN, for example.
