Ok so I was thinking about how to stretch my dollars with converting the island of blood starter set plus it gets me a rule book. So couple questions dealing with it.
1. i know it would e a lot of work with them being snap fit models, but would it be worth the effort?

2. What would be the best to convert the models into? What i do know is clan rats would make good zombies, but outside of that I don't know what would be my best options.

Any thoughts and ideas are great I'm still new to the whole conversion thing but i am willing to do a lot of work for the models if need be.

If you're looking for undead on the cheap, Mantic Games is a much more simple option. Any opposition to those models? There's not much from the IoB box that screams VC to me.

Sorry, that wasn't very helpful at all. I didn't mean to dog your idea or anything. I've assembled two IoB worth of skaven, though I used glue in the snap parts anyway, so the time spent was about the same. Those 80 clanrats I built came together super smoothly, though. One of the easiest gw kits i've ever assembled, actually. Everybody ranks nicely, which is a miracle for anybody that remembers the old 6th Ed clanrats.

I have seen mantic games models they look amazing, i plan on getting some. I was just thinking that the conversion would give me more models and the rule book that's all.

In that case:

The Packmaster with his prod would look pretty cool on the back of a Corpse Cart. The Rat Ogres are most of the way towards Crypt Horror conversions already. I saw an /excellent/ Wight King BSB made out of the Warlord with the flags and a Grave Guard headswap. Not really sure what can be done with the weapon teams or the Engineer, but that's at least some use for most of the box.

Here is how I used the Skaven Warlord for a GG champion or Wight King:

Adam pretty much covered the Skaven part of the box. As for the High Elf part, most of those would require a head swap:

Sword Masters of Hoeth - would make some nice Grave Guard if you could remove the head smoothly and give them skeletal or GG heads.
Lothern Sea Guard - same as above, but to be used as Skeletons
Ellyrian Reavers - same again, this time for Black Knights (although BK's have skeletal horses...)
Mage - Head swap for a Necro, Empire Wizard or any other fitting head to make a Necromancer
Prince on Griffon - not sure on this one, maybe a Varghulf, but would require heavy converting

How to justify all that? Just say your Vamps came to the IoB battlefield after the fight was over and salvaged what they could. :D

EDIT: Knew there are some cool looking High Elf -> GG conversions on the forum, managed to find it. It's Ustrello's GG, they are made out of HE Phoenix Guard tho:

i was thinking if i could do it right was to actually shave some of the face off of the skaven models to turn them into skull. Do you guys think that would work? What about turning the griffon into an abyssal terror since the fluff dosent give a straight answer for what one is?
