"Dear sister. Hold on just a little while longer. Your body WILL be returned to you - or you to a body if all else fails..."
So there! Finally I got something done!
Two weeks (?) on the forums now and this is the first chance I got to take even some kind of pictures of the project I've been working on for the whole autumn season. Well, with the time I've had, which hasn't been plenty.
So, once again a wee bit of background: The sisters Cristopher happened to lose their eldest years ago in the employ of Grandbelos' (a small duchy within Southern Reikland. I've got too much to tell about it. So I will hold back) late Grandmaster Kraus, a pietiful and slightly mad man. The old fool lost his life in the same fight. The Cristopherites weren't supposed to linger with the force, but with everyone so detached after said deaths they found a refuge within Grandbelos for years to come. They made themselves useful to maintain a role within the society and avoid snoopy noses and glaring eyes in their quest to - eventually - find a way to bring Rosette back to life.
Well, things turned into the worse/better (no one still knows which, not even the Cristophers) once Nagash rose and Undeath started to ran rampant. The latest expedition with Grandbelos to a wasteland of a province called Swedland gave the witches a reason for many things: to practice their newly found art of necromancy, strike a pact with the young duke Felix Rosenton (a man not afraid of any deal to take advantage of anything) and search for the buried remains of Rosette. Now even with the help of the lady herself! With the howling of the death wind Daisy and Lily managed to bring Rosette's soul back in an ethereal state - a huge step for the sisters three, even though a trivial feat for many necromancers!
That's it in a nutshell. A third time I've recounted the story in a form or another on these forums already...?
Well, the project now at hand is actually painting the guys.
I'll accept all and any feedback, be it praise, crticism, public lynching or rotten tomatoes!

This is a general pick of everything I've got covered already.
I've still got 10 Skullpass spiders to paint for more houndies, and roughly the same amount of zombies waiting. The total of zombies reach 97 now, and once I get banner bearers done it'll be a nice and round number of 100.
The middleman is an old, old showcase piece I did for fun years back. Can't even remember when. I revised his painting a bit and fixed stuff with his base and stuff, and I still love the model a lot. Very fond memories - the best pieces are those you want to do just for the sake of it! This dude is the sole reason I'd really want to run Black Knights, but I'm still divided between Grave Guard and Black Knights. And Crypt Horrors obviously, but I don't have any plans for suitable models yet. More about ghouls later...

Here you can get a better view of the zombies and the characters. The sisters (Lily, Daisy and Rosette) are all old models, with Rosette repainted to match the ghastlyness of the rest of the ghosts. The necromancers aren't touched. They are still the same ladies that marched with Grandbelos, and will be. Continuity is key.
I experimented a lot with zombie skin at the start, and I finally settled with less colour and more grey. Grey, grey, grey. Everything will be toned down with grey. The different coloured skins make for a mess, but I'm not likely to repaint anything. At least anytime soon. They work fine enough.
You can see some GW and Mantic models mishmashed together in the units. The proportions are all wrong with them, yes, but painted and based I think they add some well needed variation in zombies.
The best innovation I had, like, ever, was using bases of 10 models flat. With a few games I've played with Lore of Undead Empire proved how annoying it is to fiddle around with single models. Never going to do that again, at least with the Undead. Empire's not that bad.

So, more about the ghouls? Here we'll discuss them.
I hate GW models for them. I kinda hate the Mantic models for them as well. Neither represent what the necromancer army would be about - corpses, corpses all, and not that much meddling with the half-undead ghouls that are attracted to a vampire's presence. Yes, I grew up with 6th edition.
I was thinking if it's ghouls or skeletons, but mechanics drove me towards ghoulies. I really wanted to play something that could hit stuff for a nickle, and hold their own a wee be with T4. And without a blender lord, or vampires at all if the fluff comes to it, I'll need some muscle in there as well. Skeletons don't hit the spot. Ghouls just might.
So what would a witch do? Probably build her own creations. That's what these guys are.
How do they manage? I still don't know if I'm enjoying these or not. They're... unique, yes, but still. Blergh? Still too plaguebearer, mind you? Maybe play around with some orcs and beastmen as well? I dunno!
All of the pics taken in a hurry, lousy light and a shitty cameraphone. So sorry about that. I used to have proper equipment for this kinda stuff, I swear! But that was so long ago. You'll get something out of them I hope!
C&C welcome in abundance. Especially the criticism.
