Hi Everyone. I recently finished my Nagash, converted to match my army's "infernal skull" theme:

The spirit trails were all puttied over with flames, and the books opened. I also replaced Nagash's tiny head with a conversion based on the metal Bone Giant's skull. It's much more in scale with the model's body.

There are more detail shots and WIP pics on my blog. Check 'em out:

Thanks, guys! The body is removable from the robe and I've got parts to make a second robe & base that's Tomb Kings-themed. I'll probably get to that around 2019... :)

I have seen him on your blog earlier and it made me seriously question my own take on him xD KICKASS job on him and I am actually unable to decide on my favourite part. Books breaking the chains and the burned holes on his robe are in the top definitely though ;) That must have taken a crazy assload of work, but the effect is worth it.

@Infernal Skull Beautiful work from top to bottom!

I love the burns in the robes (what a novel idea you've had!), and then the other details you've got going on here are just awesome. I bet that fire effect over the ethereal bits took a while to do.

Great work and thanks for sharing - you've given me some inspiration for future minis.

@Novium Rob's blog has all his VC, as well as some awesome Skaven. The url is watermarked on some of those pics up there. You're right, it's great stuff. Wait til you see Marduk the Ghoul King.

Thanks guys!

I bet that fire effect over the ethereal bits took a while to do.

It really did take forever. I think I went through 4-5 packs of putty sculpting the fire.

I love also the black parts of the robe. I don't know how much of it is painting and how much photo, but the black looks so deep and true! Contrasts so well with the burned holes.

Thanks! That second pic (of the back of the robe where the sword is visible) is benefiting from the photography, I think. Something about the shadows and the resolution of the image makes it look like silk. :)

The robe is just black blended up with The Fang (shadow grey). Toward the bottom I added some P3 Sanguine Base into the mix to get it a little more purple around the fire and burns. I'm really happy with the effect.

I spray my models with Testors Dull Cote prior to painting the metals, and it helps even out all the color, and makes subtle colors pop a little more. Definitely helps with the smooth grey tone of Nagash's cloak.
