Yeah, I always thought a 5+ regenration save would make them more themed. But indeed, GW would sky-rocket their costs again. Some special rule or ability to make them annoying as hell. Zombies should be endless, endless, endless :zombie::zombie::zombie: I doubt it though, that they'll recieve anything of worth... :grave:

I'm shocked that you can still get twenty miniatures per box. It's probably because there's no demand for zombies...at all. the fact that they're taking them out of the battalion doesn't make me hopeful. But, it does mean cheap ass old battalions via ebay.

Blade of agony 75 pts
Carrier gains devastating charge and frenzy, and all attacks count as flaming. In addition the model gains deadly wail (banshee scream???). If you don´t wound with the weapon, you are automatically slain

I really don't understand the points cost on this one, at least, not in a vacuum. Perhaps other rules/Powers/Items would affect it more positively.

For almost half the cost, you get +2 Attacks with no conditions/drawbacks from the Sword of Strife, whereas you have to charge to get one, and have the chance to charge where you don't want with Frenzy (even less useful, considering that the attack can be lost and Undead are already Immune to Psychology). The only other current benefit is the Ghostly Howl (and Flaming Attacks I suppose), but that can't make up the all points difference, much less the blade turning on you if you don't inflict a Wound.

Even Daemon Weapons aren't that crazy. Being completely removed is a harsh punishment for a Vampire Lord.

All speculation of course, but it will be interesting to see in the coming weeks.

Thanks for the list, Markuene!

As for the Blade of Agony, the ability is rumoured to be Death Shriek (Terrorgheist one) not Ghostly Howl (Banshee one). With proper build (like Curse of the Revenant Vampire power), it does 4 wounds on average to anything within range (except warded and regenerating models). Think knights/elite units and it has its uses.

The truth is, 8th edition Army Book items are toned down - both in numbers (that's obvious) and in power. We need to stop thinking 7th edition items and start thinking 8th. I, for one, prefer it that way. Back in 5th I was constantly facing crazy heroes with insane magic item combos hacking apart entire units with no effort and after some time, I was sick of it. Since then I prefer to see my army destroying my opponent's army, not my hero with a sword-of-ultimate-destruction decimating unit after unit.

Blade of VC Agony. Yeah, take your 25 point leftovers and buy some defense. What's that, you can't afford decent protection? I'm sorry, back to a summoning lord then.
Extra wound is 55 points, setting you back 130 points for two items.

But it's ok, GW doesn't really do viable weapons in this point range, so we shouldn't expect a VIP treatment for the OTT VC sword.

I think you still can afford a 1+, re-rollable AS and, say 5+, regeneration from 2 Mortis Engines. Which is not bad at all in 8th. Not as good as 4+ ward in 7th, but this will be rare in 8th with only one 4+ ward per army available. It isn't cheap for sure, but can be done. And we don't want the VampLord with the most powerful weapon and protection to be cheap, do we?

No idea about Manfred, I just post what I find.

@Youngolo - dziekuje za zaproszenie

Info from warseer. Im happy to see Thron being mounted by a hero.

A few tidbits about the book:

1. All units and all characters from the book will be covered by the initial release.

Curse of undeath allows the caster of a vampiric spell to recover 1 wound, may be used ro heal another character.

Hexwraizhs have magical flaming attacks that ignore Armorsaves. Same goes for the fly through attack.

Coven throne is a mount for vampire lorsds or heroes.

Wraiths remain a rare choice led by a banshee. They can be used as characters aswell.

Dire Wolves get +1 s if they charge.

Tomb guard keep killing blow and magical attacks.

Kemmler restores 1 tomb guard or skelleton for each kill he does in close combat. He can be erheral or flying by using his cloak.

Count Caliban,

You talk about the 20 models in a box. The reason this hasnt changed is because you get 5 zombies per sprue. If GW was to re do the sprues they would just re model them, but due to their 'workload' the plastics will not change for a very long time. Instead new models will be added to the range.

There is now a teaser video up on the GW site:

Nice video.

Wait ... Mortis Engine regen ability stacks?
I wander if it will be possible to have multiples in most lists?

They really want to emphasize bring flaming magical attacks and the Lore Of Fire when fighting vampires don,t they.

Grave guard work well against daemons. So will the mounted hexwraiths if they have magical attacks. Heroic killing blow from a vampire wont be a bad idea either.

Chaos has always been an issue against undead with powerful characters magical attacks and just plain combat brute from even their core units. However, it looks like that this addition might just bring the playing field on a little more equal level.

Finally, the dire wolves get their + str on the charge back ( if it is correct). In a distant past, they used to have strenght 4 by default, and would get an extra attack on their charge ("slavering charge" i believe). This strenght increase will give them that little bit of extra punch on the charge.

My god this waiting takes to long!! :(

I doubt this is true, probably just speculation. I don't think they'd about double the price of fell bats. my guess is three fell bats around 35-40. If they want more I'm getting reaper ones.

Yeah but doubling the price? I mean resin fell bats would be easier to work with but they aren't worth that...everything else in that looks seems about right though. not sure about the battalion or a lot of the supposed recasts . Like I said, probably just speculation.
