Anyone else shocked by black periapt cost jumping to 55 points? I suppose having 2 extra PD can be handy, but only at the cost of 2 fairly valuable DD, and not to mention eating up a fair chunk of item allotment O.O

I actually like it better, to be honest. That makes it very versatile. Having the option to store up to two dice (especially in conjunction with Death Magic) affords some serious dispelling power. Likewise, if your opponent has a poor phase, or simply doesn't prioritize spells well, you gain a substantial boon to your Magic Phase.

Nearly every caster Lord I've seen (I know I practically always use it) runs with Master of the Black Arts (another very cool change that i'm happy with), so it's reasonable to see this item used fairly heavily. The benefit is you pick which phase to use your 0-2 dice, the downfall is that they come from another pool. A fair trade, I feel.

TWO additional PD/DD will be awesome! It helps swing the balance of power in the Magic phase a little more. I like it too.. although, I'd prefer it be 45ish points. Over 50 is a bit much, IMO.

There's never was a miniature for an abyssal terror considering it can be anything. The winged nightmare, which lost its rules and gw just continued selling it, is supposedly going finecast. I have yet to see anything confirming that.

I agree that it's a little on the pricey side.

I'm sure that all it is, is a balancing measure to keep it off Heroes like 50-60pt (or however much) Necromancer that can just sit in/behind a unit all game, for instance.

I agree that 55pts is too much, but then previously the 15pt version was too cheap really. They have most likely tried to compensate for this and gone a bit OTT. The again, maybe it is costed that way due to VC's new magical synergy.

Hellish Vigour... It's been a long time since I had to recall that spell and correct me if I am wrong. I think that spell gave always strike first and one extra attack to all models within 12. Mind you I think I am going all the way back to 4th edition.

Never-mind I found my old magic cards with the spell it reads as fallows...

HELLISH VIGOUR
Target one of your own Undead units
within 18" and which is in close combat.
In the next Close Combat phase all
models in the unit attack first, even if they
have been charged, are armed with Great
Weapons and so on (even Zombies! This
is the only exception to the Braindead
rule), and can re-roll any missed To Hit
rolls.
Cast on 7+

Looks like GW has initiated a round of price hikes. Everything on their website has increased pretty substantially... Grave Guard are now $55 for a box of 10... :\

I hope that they don't gouge the prices with the new units/boxed sets... I noticed that previously it's been speculated what the pricing structure will be for the newer releases, but some of them are incompatible with what's on their site already - for example the bat swarms... Here's to hoping.

Are you talking about American currency? Cause grave guard are 40$ still.

EDIT: 41.25 to be exact.

Well either way it looks like I will be following my usual buying strategies of:

Ebay
Maelstrom / Wayland etc
Other manufacturers.

Most likely the only thing I will purchase direct from GW will be the army book and magic cards.

Since WD was suppose to be avaibale on saturday (in Poland they started to sell it today) do you think its possible to get army book before 14th? Do you know if for example Ogres Army Book could have been bought before the official day?

I'm really skeptical about that list. I don't see them recasting the dumb looking necromancers, I don't see them making a finecast winged nightmare, the wight bbs etc. It wasnt posted by someone like Harry of Hastings. I don't think its even on warseer(its from dakka I believe) and warseer tends to be most accurate from what I've seen. I'm not saying the list is wrong, doubling prices sounds like something gw would do, Im just not putting faith in the list.

I know a guy who payed for the tomb kings army book in advance, he took it home several days early and no one cared(this is a indie shop), even though everyone knew he wasn't supposed to. GW sometimes ships stuff too early accidentally. I got SOM battle magic a couple days before their release

The list is nothing but a rumor. You're right - its drom Dakka, but other info we got from them appeared to be true.

What else was originally from them? Most of what we've got is from warseer if I'm not mistaken. It looks to me like a combination of educated guesses and wishful thinking...with a little bit of spite towards gw.

Is it really 55 points? That's a bummer, seeing as it would be a nobrainer to give to a necro, now you have to take from your lords allowance, which makes it much weaker tactically. Maybe it's balanced by the rumour that we no longer have to pay from our vampiric power allowance to buy another power level.
Master of the Black Arts now allow us to reroll one die for the Winds of Magic. It's not quite as good as the old guaranteed +2 dice, but if you add 2 power dice from the Black Periapt, you have a badass magic phase. Maybe Master of the Black Arts will also go to the pool instead of being tagged for the caster.

To be honest - I dont remember. But im 95% sure that there was one list of informations that first appeared on Dakka and then was repeated on Warseer.

Reroll a magic dice from winds of magic due to master of the black arts?....
Well I can no longer take it multiple times like back in the day but that still sounds quite helpful on a poor phase.

I suppose you could take it twice. It should (in theory) allow you to reroll up to both Winds of Magic dice :D

True but I can't imagine it being cheap and it may get wasted just having the 1, I myself would never reroll a 4 up.
As it stands now I still see people taking it 2 and 3 times maybe with a black coach in the army to make sure they get max dice 90% of the time.
Hell people I play normally use the rule 1d6 per 1k points.
Lets face it, 12 dice in 500 points is a bit much same as 12 dice at 10k is next to nothing.
