Yeah, lords especially. Either their durability needs a boost, or crumbling needs to go. Otherwise bunkered caster lords will still be the overwhelming favorite in the new book. If you lose the game when your general dies, and your general dies as easily as vampires have of late, then you just can't put them in combat at all.

Apparently another character can take over the roll of... summoner? if your general dies. How this works exactly I haven't seen yet. If this is true, your general might be a tad more expendable. However, there is also a rumour about that non vampires can only march if in range of the general (i.e. not just any vampire). If that's true the general will probably need a central location.

I think they should change something with the Drakenhof Banner. Against some armies it is very good, and against others it can be nearly completely a waste of points.

Wouldn't that be a great reason to put it in your army list only against the particular armies it's good against?

Am I the only one thinking of the complete devastation those hex wraiths will cause against...say small units of MI that don't have magical attacks?

Well they would certainly annoy the hell out of them. They really remind me of Harry Potter ghosts for some reason. Walks right into you and it's quite freaky.

Here's what I would like to see:

A return of the bloodlines

More characters with nothing to do with the Von Carstein family. Personally as a Blood Dragon fan I would love to see more Blood Dragon entries.

I doubt blood lines will return to the way they were in the sixth edition. Probably just have new rules and miniatures for hand maidens and ghoul kings..that sort of thing.

Lets see a Mortis Engine with plus 2 to your casting roll and a rumored blood ability that adds plus D3 models to the result of ION. So lets say I have plus one to casting and a corpse cart with ULS. So I will receive plus 7 to my dice roll so throwing 2 dice on all my spells is safe. So if I roll a 6 for my ION and a 5 or 6 on my D3 plus 4 for my caster lvl and plus 1 for a corpse cart = 14 models added to a unit. If this is all true welcome back the old mighty battles of attrition where relentless undead legions wear down their opponents with rank after rank of models. Hmm interesting if true.

:O:O:Oawesome awesome awsome:O:O:O

about time they made some decent BK's and that Coven Throne:happy:   speachless, restless, i want them all and i want them now:'(, duuude what magazine is that i just gotta have it.

Atleast it'll be something to tie us over with for the second week of 2011 that we'll also have to endure before we can bask in the glow of our new book. :vampire2:

I believe that it says D6 + Wizard level, not casting value, so it would be a bit less (specifically the +2 you were adding to the mortis engine).

Still, awesome.

Plus, the coven throne affects ranged attacks as well, which is freaking rad. If only most cannons weren't such high leadership, we could have a decent chance of having them attack themselves!

Just a year behind there, mate. xD Unless this is all some cruel time paradox and I will now be sent a year backwards, have to take all my exams again, have no new Necrons OR VC, but know that they will be coming in a year. :(

Would make me the ultimate rumour-monger though. I'd be able to cite exact rules for the 'crons and everything. :clown:

I thought the engine added +2 to the casting roll. So a level 4 caster + the Book of Ashure should = +7 to any casting roll. Which leaves 2 dice casting relatively safe from not sufficient power rule and miscast results. Also I seen a rumor that you can re-roll one of the dice for generating power dice. So if you happen to roll a 5 or 6 fallowed by a 1 or 2 a re-roll should be nothing but power dice in the bank on average.

I'd like to point out the classic undead feel the mounted wraiths, mortis engine, new wight king and the return of krell and kemmler are giving off. Speaking of which, rumor is that in the new empire codex(mar/apr) will see the return of Kislev and Halfling forces. Am I the only one that noticed gw seems to be giving back a lot of things that were taken away in the seventh edition?

They are not really giving it back, they have the image of it but its not the same thing, before you could take entire themed armies and characters with bloodline stats and abilities, now it seems to be the odd unit which fits a certain bloodline.

It is good seeing something different in our armies as to everyone else's but I still have to say,. I really wanted vampire foot troop. :(
Also 3 points a zombie is still to much..... Hell 2 points was still pushing when you have things like skaven slaves out there.

Their is a rumor of Contingents to armies coming out like smaller forces to be tagged along for whatever reason, at this point though they are still unsure if it will be GW or forge world.
We will have to wait and see for rumours though, only people who used to work for GW really get the rumor mill nowadays since they hushed up, Harry, Hastings and that ilk who have been involved a long while and of course the game testers who at the moment are some of the highest tournament ranked players in the UK, names escape me but look in the ogre book, gives a special thanks to: "Insert name" etc, they are not allowed to speak much but certain things they can say.

What I meant was, Invocation of Nehek (the new one) seems to be based off of your Wizard Level, not the casting value. A level four would therefore add +4 to his D6. All of that other stuff, such as items and buffs, adds to the roll he casts. So, if you used the book of Ashur (which I'm not a fan of), had the mortis engine nearby, he would at a casting value of a 7, which is what you said. Even a 6 would be awesome, since the base value of the spell is a 6+, I believe. However, he would not be bringing back D6 +7 models worth back.

Also, you might want to update the front page to include the fact the the IoN is a bubble, and affects all friendly undead units within 6/12/18"". :3

ION as a bubble effect for 6/12/18 :| Besides being completely awesome, It does ask the question if recast spamming will still be possible. I bet not and that would feel like something was lost o_o
Of course that will depend if your talking d6 wounds distributed as you choose between units within 6/12/18 or d6 wounds to all units within 6/12/18 :innocent:

As for the actual number of models produced from the spell I have seen where the caster level also adds to the d6 roll for ION +1 model for a corpse cart with unholy load stone = 11 models max potential. However, I have seen another rumor that a blood ability may add an additional d3 to the d6 roll of ION making a maximum potential of 14 models in the above scenario with a minimum of 7 and an average of 10.

Of course allot is rumor and extrapolation so I am absolutely anticipating getting the actual book in hand. :devil2:

i just have to say "oooooohhhh" just like everyone else.
im not to taken with the new 'big bad' models, they do look a bit clumsey and over crowded. the hex knights look good and are gonna be the 1st addition. i just hope that the book brings back the skellies as a viable competative choice, (i was never a fan of naked mutants ruining the villagers) with a pt decrease and the return of necro lords + krell (just wish i hadn't butchered my old model years ago) it seem like a step in the right direction.

time to dig out and dust off the old bones.:perv:
