Wondering if anybody has noticed that with the pre-orders up, we have the unit stats for the new models now...

And it seems Hexwraiths not only are ethereal with great weapon, but ignore armour saves and can ride through enemy units making sweep attacks akin to the Necron Overlord on Command Barge.

Step 1. Hexwraiths

Step 2. Vargheists.

Step 3. ???

Step 4. Profit.

We don't know everything we're complaining about is even valid. Anyone care to tell me what a ghoul kings statline and powers are? Is a ghoul king a lord ot hero? What's its point cost? Does anyone know anything about a ghoul king? How about a corpse master? Are they wizards? can we field them without a mount? Can anyone say for sure how ALL the spells work or what ALL the magic items are? Not too long ago logic dictated that the black coach was gone. Let's not be pessimists.

Hexwraiths has too low move to be the new powerhouse people thought. Still nice.

8in move with no terrain penalties is too low?

and yes the varghulf has got to be a typo... then again he's supposed to be the 'big bad brother' to those much bigger vargheists.
Doh, I looked at the movement for the Wraiths, not their mounts. Must not post too late at night....
But to be fair, they are listed without mounts http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat720005a&prodId=prod1460004a

I wish we could buy those skeletal steeds by themselves. I have a fully painted blood dragon that I didn't use when I made my terrorgeist. It's hard to find a suitable mount. I'll wait a week then go to bitzbarn.

from my minor experiences playing vampire counts i would like to see vampires more wounds. 2 is to little when after their death your entire army can be destroyed in one turn without you ropponent rollong a dice :mad2:

We may have the ability to transfer the generals role to another character. This won't remove the giant target on our general but it may shrink it once the other player realizes a full pronged attack on the generals position may be a waste of resources. As for combat rez killing vamps still, oh well, every army needs an exploitable weakness. Just remember guys, it could be worse. We could be wood elves...or worse beastmen(they don't even get the hope of a new AB)..

A few comments from a relatively greenhorn Warhammer gamer (but old time gamer in general):
- I think the reduction in cost and changes to Zombies make them viable. Comparing them to Skaven Slaves is a fruitless effort, as it is any cross-army comparison. Entries are given costs relative to their own book. But if you must compare, consider this: part of the extra cost can be attributed to the fact Zombies can be summoned and Healed unlike Slaves.
- I'm liking the Mortis Engine myself more than the Coven, if only because it can just take points in my Rare allotment.
- Vanhel's deserved the no-charge nerf, that spell was too good.
- It is sad to loose the Loremaster access to BRB spells, but perhaps, again, it was warranted.

Just saw some pictures of the sprues for these. Lots and lots of interesting bits..

Definitely going to have to snatch some for conversion work.

Slavering charge is back! Yes, at last the dire wolves might be worth taking again! As for Krell, he was always called a dark lord, and yet counted as a hero choice. In one of the rule books he could only be taken if you had Kemmler though, which makes sense as it was Kemmler that raised him back up again (under subtle influence from our Warpstone addled lord) Would love to see a return of Neferata, maybe in 3 years when they redo the book yet again. Love the new zombie stats, S3 T3? That is the best in a while. I see the Skellies weapon skill has dropped, that kind of sucks, but then I have stopped taking those as the ghouls always worked out better anyhow. Makes sense they raised their points to 10 with their far better stat line.

The throne and engine aren't finecast, If that's what youre saying. And yeah fineca$t is crap.
Varghulf has gotta be a typo.
Like I said we lost the instant win formula, the helm was part of that.
The black coach seems to be ridden by a character wraith now, seems to be the only difference

Well if that's true...

People, stop saying VHD is nerfed: WE DON'T KNOW IF WE CAN OR CAN'T CHARGE WITH IT. I only said that the Battlerep did not show a charge with it, and as far as I know, no one actually read the description of the spell. So we can't tell, and just have to wait untill the 14th.

As for the WS of Skellies; it has always been 2.

The GW site indeed says that the Cairn Wraith has the Chill Grasp ability. Little buf. Does anyone knows what Chill Grasp does? I never obtained the WD with the update on that.

And indeed, Krell used to be a Hero choice in the old days. Fingers crossed he will still be... :clown:

Chill Grasp - exchanges all attacks for one, if that attack hits, it's automatic wound with no armour save allowed.

I think crypt horrors are fantastic, look at their stats. I just don't think they look that cool. Nothing like I pictured the "flesh golems with lots of stitches" we were told about...just giant ghouls. But anyways, does anyone think we'll be seeing a second wave?

Do we know anything about if Vampires have access to mundane equipment?

Yes, Vampires definitely have access to mundane armor at the very least. I didn't see anything that confirmed weapons though.

This is from warseer:

I've got it for the Vampire Lord:

230 slaves for a Lvl 4 Vampire Lord with the Cursed Book, Dark Acolyte and MotBA.
110 slaves for the basic Lvl 1 Vampire Lord.
52.5 slaves for the 3 magic levels.
17.5 slaves for the Cursed Book.
12.5 slaves for Dark Acolyte.
37.5 slaves for MotB

And GW are oh so very asinine about their IP. Were they this bad before they became publicly owned?

Now, MANY of my fears have been alleviated. I was very upset when I say Varghulf's weren't going to be vamps but looks like that was a misinterpretation I think.

And also I thought we would lose our cool raise spells.

Now here is my big question, can invocation still be spammed.

I haven't seen anything concrete, but it seems incredibly likely that the rumors on that one are correct:

Spells cannot be recast, but Invocation of Nehek in particular (maybe other spells as well) will have an area of effect (6"/12"/18") depending on the casting value you choose.
