Okay, so I know many of you want to return to Gunhearts: Invasion, but I am keeping it on hold for the moment until I have figured out how I want to run it, as it is pretty heavily system based. Also, most of the current 40k Roleplays have fairly human/similar characters, so I want to run something that contrasts to those a bit.
Here are four Roleplay Proposals for you guys.
Proposal One- Deathwatch
A team of Space Marines drawn from various different chapters team together as a deathwatch kill-team. Create your own Adeptus Astartes character using the Deathwatch RPG ruleset and team together with your battle brothers as you team up to defeat a vile threat to the imperium.
I want to run this roleplay because I want to try out the Deathwatch RPG system to learn more about how to run system roleplays. This would help me immensely in working out how gunhearts should run. It also provides a nice contrast to the largely low power, human teams in the current CN roleplays and provides a nice Action, ass-kicking based roleplay in contrast to the intrigue/sneaking around of the current roleplays.
Proposal Two- Legio Nocturnus
You are a space marine from the infamous Legio Nocturnus, a successor chapter of the Blood Angels, founded in the Cursed 13th Founding. The Legio Nocturnus is a mysterious chapter that specialises in Night Fighting, and its lead companies are eached formed up by a secretive brotherhood of its veterans- the Carstei, Lahmians, Blood Dragons, Necrarchs and Strigoi. Take part in shaping the history and story of this Legion, and help steer its path, either to salvation, or damnation.
I want to run this roleplay not just as a roleplay, but as a way for Forum users to write their own space marine characters in Carpe Noctems very own chapter of space marines. Players would get the opportunity not just to roleplay their own characters, but to take control of key characters from the chapter such as the leaders of the brotherhoods- Neferem, Ushoran, Abhorash, etc. It would essentially be a long, overarching collection of stories forming the turbulent history of a chapter.
Proposal Three- Rogue Trader
You are a party of adventurers in the service of a Rogue Trader, issued with a warrant of trade, to seek profit and to expand the interests of the imperium. Be a part of the Rogue Traders crew, or even lead the others as the Rogue Trader him/herself, as your very own imperial starship seeks fortune and adventure.
This would be a chance for me to run a roleplay using the Rogue Trader system, which is similar (and compatible) with Deathwatch. It would serve the same purpose of helping me to learn how to run a system roleplay well, and would provide a nice, really open ended roleplay as the players are working for themselves (as the Rogue Trader they all work for is one of the players). Also, it has the interesting mechanic of each player being a crew member on a powerful starship (Void Master, Navigator, Astropath, etc)
Proposal Four- Skavenslave
You are a skaven (or possibly a goblin/human/etc). Whether it is through defeat in battle, or just sheer misfortune, you have been captured by a rival clan, Clan Deathclaw. Your life now belongs to the Warlord Nithek Deathclaw, your possessions stripped from you. Will you submit yourself to humiliation and degradation as a skavenslave? Or will you rise, and earn your freedom, either by defiance and rebellion, or by rising through the ranks of Clan Deathclaw?
This would be a fun one. Skaven make for fantastic characters, and slavedom means everyone gets to start from the very rock bottom and work their way up against adversity. Skaven also provide hilarious antics in the form of paranoia, backstabbing and scheming. Also, we would get to use characters not only from my own tabletop skaven army, but of the clans belonging to a few other CN users (Such as Clan Skritch)
