Scared Yet?

Playing through Dead Space 2, it gets a little less scary when you realize the main character is a badass space engineer that makes space marines look like chicken wusses and runs around impaling space zombies with javelins and then curb stomping them. Back to what scares me....spiders freak the crap out of me, and while i'm not innately scared of many things, a fate worse than death, so to say, would make me void my bowels.

I dunno Zanos, my impression from dead space and from reviews of dead space 2 is that you never really have the upper hand over your enemies. Maybe you don't have the difficulty up high enough (or you are just that good).

I found the scariest part of dead space is when you face the freaking unkillable monster. When I faced it in the room where you have to kill all these other necromorphs while it tries to eat you for dinner before you can escape that room, I first ran out of stasis while trying to keep it at bay for long enough to kill all its friends, then I ran out of ammo, then I was desperatly chucking everything in sight at it with kinesis, until it caught up with me and impaled me in the air on its big scythey claw thingies. Now thats what I call scary and suspenseful.

I used to have a morbid fear of scorpions and earwigs as a kid. After hearing that scorpions could hide in boots and liked the dark, I had to check every shoe I wore every time before I put it on, and was terrified of things crawling up from the crack between my bed and the wall, and often cocooned myself in the sheets at night to keep things from crawling into my ear.

Of course, these days scorpions and earwigs are just more fascinating creatures to pick up and gently take outside while cooing to them for me. A few months ago I had to restrain myself from handling a white tail spider in a friends backyard because those things are very venomous, but I so wanted to pick it up and take a look at it and spend time with it. Oh well, maybe next time, now that I have absolutely no sense of self preservation left.

These days, I do startle easy if someone sneaks up on me unintentionally, but its not a scared startle, its more an instinctive "you snuck up behind me ill kill you!" reaction. Thankfully, I hear most people coming before they get in arms reach.

God I hate wasps

I catch wasps mid flight . Wasps have no idea of what kind of bad moe'suckra they are dealing with when they fuck with me . Anything buzzing idiotically near me gets killed .
One thing that does scare me though , apart from heights on a rickety structure , is human stupidity . A little example of this stupidity is people believing in end of the world claims .

Not so much 'fear' but am definately creeped-out by;
- Spiders. Mainly because I've been bitten by a femal black widow... Hurt like a fething bitch I tell ya!

- Those multi-legged centiped thingies... They're damn fast, can grow to disgusting sizes and even when you end their misserable, useless existance, their legs are still trying to run off!:ghost:

- bees/wasps. I've never been stung once in my life, but I've also never been tested for allergies, so getting stung would not be my first choice in how to discover if I'm deathly allergic or not!

- Hockey pucks. Okay, I'm an on-ice offical. (please don't hate me!)
But the sound of a 70mph slap-shot hitting the board about 2" from your head because a player thinks it's funny to see you shit your pants, will make most people re-think what the hell they were thinking when they signed up for the job! (at least I can give her a penalty for her stupidity!)

What really does scare me though: Yellowstone! It's just Mother Nature's giant "F-you all" button.
(and it's shown periods of hightened activity over the last number of years...)

Cheers!

I just want to say that wasps are useful! they are a necessity to our eco system, they eat bugs which kill our crops! we would all die pretty swiftly without them! But yes they are pretty grim, not as grim as Hornets though! they are horrible things!

OOOh Yellow stone is scary! Its waaaay over due to erupt!

I kinda wish Yellow Stone would erupt already. I'm so bored.

edit: just realised how callous that sounds. To clarify, I prefer massive, explosive natural disasters speeding along humanities demise than watching the slow, gradual, eventless decline of humanity as it poisons itself and devolves into mindless, apathetic nothingness.

Learn to revel in it. It's better than being on the other side of the fence. :innocent:

Or learn to listen to Beethoven:

Moonlight Sonata - Yummy!

9th Symphony... what!? Singers in a symphony?! Naughty Ludwig!

5th Symphony... gorgeous!

Sonata Pathetique, only first movement. I'm trying to learn to play this!

Sonata Pathetique, second movement. I can play this!

Sonata Pathetique third and final movement. When I saw this on the Grade 8 syllabus, I danced for joy!

Just a few goodies. If you listen to the first one for long enough, it becomes epic.... oh, and for fun, here's Rowan Atkinson playing pieces you will have heard from the above: (albeit in a more comic fashion, making it hard to play these myself without laughing inside)

Rowan Atkinson plays the Pathetique and Moonlight Sonatas (with a little sleep in the middle)

Beethoven is just so epic. I can't stop listening!!!

EDIT: On topic, what would scare me: the thought of Beethoven never existing. My life would be unceremoniously cut short... or maybe I'd listen more to Bach or Handel. xD

Scariest Senario Ever:

'A busload of Canadians who are off on holiday somewhere nice suffers a terrible accident and tragically, all who are on board the bus are killed.

Upon arriving at the Gates of Heaven and seeing the endless white expanse, the Canadians are somewhat testy thinking they've been sent to hell by mistake. Taken aback and somewhat afronted by this seemingly foolish comment, God sends the Canadians packing off to hell for their obvious rudeness!

Now in the firey bowls of Hell, Satan turns as he hears a lowd cheer errupt from somewhere amongst the newest arrivals. He turns to see the Canadians throwing off their winter coats & boots, pulling up some lawn chairs, pinning up a vollyball net and generally carrying on and having a massive party!
Satan questions his newest denizens and enquires why they're not in torment yet, to which the nearest of the Canadians responds, "Well sir, it's -20 or so back home most of the time, but this place is paradise!"

Determined to fix the situation and put these crazies right, Satan stalks off and jacks up the AC. Suddenly, he hears an almighty jubblient cry from the Canadians;
"Woot! The Maple Leafs just won the Stanley Cup!!!"

my most common nightmare is standing on the deck of a ship playing with my new iphone/ipad/psp/nds/etc (pick whatever you want), then suddenly someone pushes me and the device slides off my hands...and...it's lost...it's lost in the cold dark waters :O :O

Also, Dead Space. Those freakin' necromorphs, man......they're getting to me...... :zombie2:

I have to agree with that!! Another very scary video game is Amnesia: The Last Descent. I was playing it with the lights off and i was like :scared: :scared: :scared:

There was a wasp between my curtain and my window the other day. Stupid thing. It made such a racket that it woke me up at 5 am. So, I could see its shadow through the curtain (light coming through from outside), and thought it might be a fly, but had a sneaking suspicion it might be a wasp (the sinister sharp point gave me a clue through the curtain). So, I readied my trusty fly-gun:

And slowly opened the curtain. The shadow had been huge, but I thought it had just been the light...

The thing was MASSIVE. Almost the size of my thumb. So I pointed, fired, and the thing bounced off my window. Terrified, I leapt to the floor.

Cautiously I crept up, scanning for the corpse, whilst re-loading the fly gun. And lo and behold!

It was dead, but not squished all over my window, perfectly curled up in a little death-ball on my window-sill. How brilliant!

It was then escorted to the loo by two thick tissues. xD

I also hate wasps. They always buzz around when you're having lunch.

The other night, I had a very, very disturbing nightmare.
Was in kinda a normal family situation, not people I knew but in the dream they were family. We were outside the front of a house, and then I looked over to a toddler/baby, and..... it wasnt moving, and it looked dead. I screamed and ran over, then it turned out I was seeing things and the baby was fine. Then, someone started to bite into their hand, thinking it was food. Then, everyone started seeing terrible things, and reacting accordingly. People running around, screaming, hitting each other, throwing things. I saw horrible things, like a hundred needles stabbing in and out of a childs back, dark figures chasing everyone....

Very disturbing. At least when I killed the wasp it couldn't come back to haunt me.

Wait a second... damn forgot to stop the Invocation of Nehek! *angry Undead wasp buzzing noises*

tics freak me out because I've had lymes disease twice and every time its humid outside my joints hurt to remind me of the stupid tic who gave me it. Plus the latch on to you and drink your blood :konrad:
