So I have been around for quite some time now and since I'm re-painting a lot of my army I thought it would be a good time to start a plog :)

My army is led by 2 Vampire Lords of the Von Carstein bloodline. Soon after their awakening they fled Sylvania, one headed towards Brettonia in the hope of mastering his swordsmanship, while the other roamed the wilds, embracing his feral nature. They were always loyal to the Great Necromancer Himself and when the End Times broke out, both of them answered his call. They rose to the ranks of Mortarchs and currently reside in the Realm of the Dead alongside Nagash.

Thus it is only fitting to introduce you to one of them (and a personal favorite :P)

@Eyeless They do indeed look gross. I'm not usually a fan of coloured membranes outside of natural earthy colours but your colour scheme has been pulled off nicely. Good job

As you're repainting your army, perhaps you could do some before & after shots to show the CN crowd what improvements and conversions you opted for.

Thanks for the kind feedback ^^ and yea will do, i'll post a skeleton pic this evening and then some progress =] i'm still keeping the basic feel to the army but it's gonna look better (hopefully )

EDIT: I might be switching to round bases later on once I decide the theme and discuss with my friends what's we'll be playing so I won't do any work on the bases for any unit.

I'll have some pics up of works in progress by the weekend =]

Preview of the new work ;) bases will come later, probably round with new scenery =]

Changed the green-ish effect to rust, wood spears, washes and highlights all over.

I like it. Is that a textured paint for the rust? Or just a brown/orange layers type thing?

It is indeed a technical paints, using Typhus Corrosion for the rust base and a dry brush of Ryza Rust for the orange. GW has a nice tutorial covering these on youtube =]

Ah. I haven't used any of the new GW paints. I switched over to Vallejo a while back, so I haven't touched any of the "Dry" or "Technical" paints. It certainly has a fairly interesting effect, and looks quite well. Could be worth looking into :ghost:

Definitely is. You can also choose how rusty or not you want the effect with the dry brush. I went full on with it as i like the orange effect of corroded metal. Also might i suggest checking out Blood for the Blood God? It's a technical paint used for blood and it's awesome. There are vids too covering it and in my opinion it's a must have for any vampire army ;)

@Farmer7574 Cheers =] It's been kinda busy for me too but had a sunday off and got some work in :) and oh god it's been hell weather here.. with heatwave temperatures were peaking at 45 deg. now it's slightly better this week although still very hot :c

Winged vampire named Raziel and with a cowl on his face, I think I know what you're up to  Good luck with further reworking of your army - that's quite a challenge you imposed there on yourself ;)

I never would have thought of giving a skeleton a wobbly/skewed head - so simple, yet so nice ;)

@Borgnine Finally someone that gets the reference of my vampire =D
Thanks for the kind complements =] my army is quite small compared to most of the others seen over here but it's still quite challenging ye =D

It's been a slow week :c need more brushes which i'll buy tomorrow morning :c

New bases done and 14 ready =D almost half of the unit redone and rebased. Must say new scene and round bases look awesome =D
Went with a unique look of an underground cave or something like that with a muddy/rocky landscape and gems =]

Here's some pictures of the ready models. their number needs to be doubled up tho :p

Thanks =], yea they do look a bit odd. I do like them however. They give a bit more to set the scene and more space between the models ideal for creating dynamic and different poses. Aside from that they don't rank up, which i kind of like in some armies not in all. Like I always imagined undead, greenskins, beastmen and skaven in a scattered formation not ranked up and in a block formation.

I completely agree, my main ambition for my 8th armies is to put together a bunch of unit fillers to break the ranks and files up. It's the space between the skeletons I'm thrown by though, you can really appreciate the detail on each skeleton better.

@Farmer7574 Thanks for the kind words man =] About the rust there's a gd tutorial on youtube by GW on how to paint it using typhus corrosion and ryza rust. I pretty much followed it but went mad on the ryza rust drybrushing :P As for the bases yea they are strange but i can say they do look better compared to the other units on my shelf in my opinion. Of course i have no problem with squares and i still love them but after trying it out i must say i prefer rounds. cant say how better/worse they are ingame tho as i haven't played with them yet.
