@Eyeless Great to see you're back at it! I've been busy painting over the last two days too and feel great about finally getting back to business!

Nice conversion idea with the double-ended spear. How have you painted your rust on your minis? It looks quite dark here.

I played around with some rust painting ideas a while back and have posted my results in the 'Dying To Help' Forum if you want to check them out. I've also done a few attempts at verdigris which I've yet to post.

Brave man for doing 20 in one go, I'd go mad xD Lets see them when they're done.

@Farmer7574 haha it sure is =] still busy and doing very slow progress but it's better than nothing =] it looks dark because it was a quick shot for the forum xD it actually matches the rust of the skeletons posted on page 1 at the end.

As for the rust it's leadbelcher and a wash of nuln oil for the metal, typhus corrosion for the base of the rust. It gives off a nice brownish effect with a bit of rust texture. and then a (very heavy) dry brush of ryza rust on top of it. I went mad with the dry brush as i like that orange effect but you can do less =] there's a good youtube tutorial on it if you like.

@Mad 'At  No only the champion has a double edged spear. The 18 i'm doing now will be similar to the ones posted on page 1 without the command. but if you're referring to spear then yes all of them will be with spears =] Also that stone at the base is a gem or crystal or something like that. The skeletons group shot on page one shows this better i think. I'm basing my army to give the feel of an underground mine or a cave with minerals and crystals. Something on those lines :)

@Eyeless: You got another 18 skeleton champions in progress? xD

Just messing with ya. I agree with Farmer about the dual edged spear. It looks very cool. Is the whole unit going to be equipped like that?

Also, is that stone on his base covered in blood?
That's not a bad idea, considering if you just build one box as Sword n' Board you have a full second set of spears to chop for double spears :ghost:

But cool guy, I'm curious about that rock looking thing on his base, is it like.. some sort of blood stone? It looks red, but I can't tell if it's suppose to be a natural looking red, or like and evil crystal, quite?

@Tawg sadly i've already built my remaining skeletons all with spears and i want to keep the 2 edged spear exclusively to the champion =] Also as stated above the stone at the base is a gem or crystal or something like that. The skeletons group shot on page one shows this better i think. I'm basing my army to give the feel of an underground mine or a cave with minerals and crystals. Something on those lines :)

Happy Halloween everyone!

And here are the long awaited spearmen regiment. 30 guys in there finally repainted and rebased =D

I must admit that mounting skeletons on rounds gives them a good 'rabble' feeling, normally they are very uniform and your version is a very interesting change ;) Also a good color scheme - rust works very well with this blue, bound together with the browns. The black and green spiders are quite striking, although seeing them without their riders really accents the fact that they are the same and a little boring thanks to that - but that's the fault of the models ;)

@Borgnine Cheers man =] Yes i have to admit, as much as i loved 8th and squares once i tried a few skele on rounds i was sold. I know you can play with squares just fine but rounds look better and also gave me an excuse to change the basing scenery and re-paint all my army =] as for the spiders yea they do look a but blunt but still better than wolves =] That blue and white spirits are the signature of my army :) so you can expect to see more of it on anything Ethereal ;) Got some grave guards and a necromancer up next =] try to post tomorrow.

And here are some of my Grave Guards. I've done 10 for now, i might be adding more later on down the road but for now i have other things to work on =]

Necromancer with a goblin head?! That's something new! xD The grave guards' blades are awesomely done! I only feel that they lack a little bit of a warmer color like skeletons have - but other than this, great stuff. You're also posting really quick  Oversized orcish weapon of the champion is also an interesting addition ;)

@Eyeless Nice job on those GG, they have a really icy cold death grip look to them. I think since they give this atmosphere that maybe a winter base would add to it, but then again might be overkill and drown the minis with cold colours. It could be worth a try on one...

I agree with Borgnine, I think these guys could benefit from a warm spot colour somewhere but I'm not really sure where you could put it. Possibly on their upper part of their robes as they have that double layer cloth thing going on.

Nice stuff, keep at it.

@Borgnine, @Farmer7574 haha yea that head was just right =D and yea i had a bunch of stuff almost finished that just needed some last touches so i'm going pretty fast right now :p had around a months work there XD Thanks for the kind comments =] I do agree with you now that i see them ready, compared to the skeletons they lack some warm colour but teal and black are my main colours and didn't want to do rust on GG :c when compared to the army they don't look out of place though as i do have a lot of ethereals in it. Now i'm rebasing my vampire (1st post of the plog) along with final touches on Vlad, another necromancer and some banshees and reapers =] Should be done this week hopefully =]
