I must admit that the idea is very very awesome! I could totally believe that a vampire would overpower the dragon on his own and then drag him around like a dog - a great display of power, it speaks plenty about the mini while doing it so very subtly. And to second @Leithel - bloody marks around the chains and other long scars are a must here! ;)

Thanks for the comments everybody!

@Farmer7574 That's a good idea, I didn't even thought about ethereals handling the dragon, I have to think about it. On the other hand, I'd like to use my old Grave guard in some way, they're my all time favorite models :D But yeah, I will seriously consider the ethereal entities. Group of skeleton warriors pulling the dragon, why I didn't think about that. Awesome idea, altho then it would make vampire look like he needs help from feeble skeletons :D

@Leithel Good point, the skeleton horse really pops out a little too much, I agree. The dragon is alive, and I will definitely make some bruises and scars over him, maybe for the wings too.

@Borgnine Dragging him like a dog indeed! haha! I just hope this project will work out. I'm afraid it will look just silly, the dragon is so dramatically posed, as he is about to fly away.

Today I finished first 5 of 10 Dire wolves. I went the lazy way, as you can see :D :

Time for another update. I apologize as I have not been as efficient as I said I would, I didn't finish the dragon for the tournament. But anyways, here's where I'm at;

The base is kinda WIP, I'm thinking about adding skeletons in it and maybe flags/weapons/random stuff etc. I'm also thinking about leaving the Vampire by himself without Grave guard or any other beings pulling the dragon. As you can see, at least I finished painting the vampire. I'm not too happy with the result tho, but I hope you like it! At the moment I am painting horns of the dragon.. there are like 20 horns/spikes coming through his skin, some of them are very small and it's hard to figure them out from warpstones.

I have been working a lot and spending time with my family lately, but soon I have long christmas vacation = more time to keep this blog running properly ;)

(PS. I hope I'll get a proper camera for christmas present xD)

Hey @Sessioni that's coming along very nicely. You definately need a better camera as I don't think this one's doing justice to the quality of your painting but so far it looks pretty darn good.

@Sessioni Awesome looking beast and vampire mate, these are coming along really well.

I agree with Borgnine that the lack of grave guard handlers have worked out well, and gives more power to the sight of the vampire. The base seems fine as it is in terms of content, not too empty and not too crowded. If you plan on adding stuff to it then perhaps blu-tac it in place and see how things work beforehand.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks @everybody !

I took some better pictures yesterday, going to add them today after work so stay tuned ;)

Yeah, I'm going to leave the vampire alone, it sure looks better that way. Maybe one skeleton somewhere behind the pillar, just to make it more.. complete? since there are already a couple of rising skeletons. I absolutely love painting this monster, so much detail.

Here's the promised better photos for ya'll!
Vampire's head is not that shining IRL, but I think I have to add another highlight layer to the skin anyways.

Truly a marvellous beast! The horns are turning out especially good

I don't know about the skin, but the robe could use a little bit of wash to deepen the shadows. Only as an option though, he still looks very good! A nice model BTW, I didn't know he had so much clutter at his belt. I have this mini at home, I'll have to take it with me the next time I'll be there ;)

Good luck on the further parts of the dragon xD

Hello again! Thanks for the input @Borgnine The dragon is taking some time, sorry about that! :D But I just had to finish my Vampire conversion first, as soon as I saw this Empire Captain model I knew what I was going to do with it. I love the pose, so only conversion is the head (from vampire lord on ZD kit) and some hair to make him look more sophisticated. I also erased some empire-stuff off the model and put a shield on his back, I think he looks better without the cape. I took your earlier tips seriously and made his skin pop out more than my winged vampire. Overall I'm happy how this turned out!

Thanks for the kind words @ObliviJohn But the armor was meant to be just dirty iron plate :D The photo must've played a trick on you. I haven't read the rules for the 9th edition yet, but I am very excited about the fact that fans are ready to keep this thing going if GW will not. I played Vampire Counts in the 6th edition, and loved the bloodlines, I must check how they updated them!

Here's a picture of my vampires (not including the dragon thingy or new plastic strigoi), never too much of these! Only two of those are painted by me, others will have to take a nice long bath.

edit. Btw, I am willing to buy any Lahmian vampires you guys might have lying around :D

@Sessioni Wow, a nice bit has happened here since I last checked!

That empire vampire conversion is nice, those pale eyes look creepy in the depth of the dark tainted skin. Inspiring stuff.

Those banshees are great too, they look like they're practically glowing in the dark.

Good work mate, keep at it!

@Farmer7574 Thanks! Yeah I've been painting a lot of characters lately. Yesterday I finished my Blood Dragon vampire. The colors are actually a lot colder than showing in the picture. The red is just like the clothing of my skeletons for example. I'm not pleased with the eyes, maybe grey would fit better than white.

@Leithel Thanks! Funny that you asked, today is my birthday and my mom gave me a proper camera so I can take better pictures now on. I will upload better pictures as soon as I get home.

Here's a WIP picture of my Von Carstein vampire's steed. Picture is taken with my new camera, quality is LOADS better! :D

edit. @Leithel and yes, before I used my smartphone

You really made some progress! It's nice to paint some characters :)
The empire vampire looks really badass! I think a fabulous hat could make him even cooler, but he's awesome as he is right now! ;)
Those classic banshees also look proper ghostly. And the blood dragon cavalier, very nicely done. I remember when these were still on the GW website ;)

And good luck in the future with the new camera

Thanks @Everyone!

I took a couple pictures of my recent paint jobs with my new camera. I'm still practicing taking good pics (and tips are greatly welcome), but here you can see better my flaws and hopefully something good also :D

Outside of a dragon riding a vampire, that must be one of the most original ideas I have seen.

The dragon on a chain is such a cool idea. Great choice of model too.

I would consider putting some very broken looking wings on there, even having one broken off to a stump to make it look like the vampire has battered the dragon into submission and also give it an undead look, though that may not be what you are going for. I actually kind of like the look of the dragon without wings even.

Anyway, great job and bonus marks for creativity
