Got my hands on a cheap Nagash model, so OBVIOUSLY i have to play it with the rest of my SBL. However, since he takes up almost half of the points, it is hard to navigate what would be good in a nagash list.

This is what i have so far:

- Army Faction: Soulblight Gravelords
- Army Type: Vyrkos
LEADERS
Nagash (955)
- Spells: Invigorating Aura
Necromancer (125)
- Spells: Invigorating Aura
Vampire Lord (140)
- Spells: Invigorating Aura
BATTLELINE
Deadwalker Zombies (240)
Deathrattle Skeletons (160)
Deathrattle Skeletons (160)
ENDLESS SPELLS & INVOCATIONS
1 x Umbral Spellportal (70)
TOTAL POINTS: 1850/2000

The idea is to hold the line basically with the new Gallant Veteran battalion that counts each model for 3. Just stand ground and score points, then let the spellcasters resurrect (especially nagash) and dish out damage. But again, Im open for ideas in general.

I don’t dislike the idea, however i'm not sure that list will work.
You probably need a bigger block of zombies, but let's say 40 are ok.
You definitely want 1 block of 30 skellies instead of 2 × 20. That leaves you with 230 pts.
...are you sure you want both the necromancer and the VL? I get they're great, but you need points and i doubt it's a good idea to invest more than 1200 pts in heroes (1300 when you include the endless spell). Maybe you could drop the VL.

If you do so, you'll have 370 pts.

Fill the gaps with fast, summmonable units... i'd pick 2 x 10 dire wolves and 5 black knights, maybe bounty hunters, so their damage output can increase against the right targets. 370 pts that will grant you battlefield control and mobility.

Nagash 955
Necromancer 125
40 zombies 240
30 skellies 240
10 wolves 135
10 wolves 135
5 black k. 100
Umbral 70

I agree with Unas. You dont want support heroes in an army where you have spent half your points on Nagash. You need screens and units that can work independent of Nagash. I think the big issue with Nagash in a Soulblight list is that you are hard pressed to find the points for something that is killy (something Soulblight always struggles with). An obnoxious list could be Nagash + 4x40 Zombies.

My idea was to try to buff up the skellies with necromancer and vampire lord (VL mostly to get the benefits of the Vykros lineage with 1 to wound rolls) in order to do some sort of damage, while Nagash cleans up. Is Umbral even necessary? it does increases the reach Hand of Dust, which would be killer. Since I only have access to 10 dire wolves, it makes it difficult to run 20 :D

Black Knights (200)

I could switch up the black knights for blood knights (have plenty of those) but they are not summonables. I love your inputs so far

EDIT: or change Umbral spellportal out, since i know my opponent will be nurgle and replace it with Quicksilver swords something akin to :-

The last list he used, there were only one unit of pusgoyle blightlords, and then two units of blightkings with some hero dude, plaugebearers and a GUO. Cant really remember the rest.

Ah ok, that is quite similar to my own Nurgle army.

So his big weaknesses are:
- Movement. If you can block the GUO's movement he can easily lose the game simply on that account. You can do this with screens like fell bats and also with putting down endless spells in front of him (as a unit may not end its movement on top of an endless spell).
- Little to no shooting. So one of Soulblights issues generally is that we often get our heroes shot off the board, but that will not be the case here, so you will have quite free reign on where to put your heroes.
- Low unit count. Nurgle units are elite and so they are expensive, this means that you will in all probability have more units on the board which in turn gives you more board control. This means that it will often be easier for you to secure battle tactics and objectives than it will for opponent.

His strengths will be:
- Toughness. Nurgle are durable as fuck so if you want to kill the GUO for instance then you have to go all in. It won't do anything to chip away at it through the game.
- Summoning. Depending on how your opponent plays his list he might be summoning quite a lot (I know I do). So beware of this as you play - however, he can only summon things in range of his heroes and his trees, so that limits him a bit.

Hope this helps a bit :)

Cheers,
Sunny

Maybe then we could partially turn back to the original plan, that involves the use of umbral spellportal to kill the GUO.

And anyway, elite armies don’t like a Naghash with 5-6 loaded arcane bolts...

Im still inclined to take the massive summonables list i got with the reinforced graveguards and quicksilver. Get the command ability that allows me to summon wolves for some screening/fast paced units, and try to setup so his fliers does not get behind my lines, or anywhere that might be horrible.

That is an extremely tanky list so my advice would be:
- don’t try to kill everything. Focus on a few things such as his heroes so that he cannot summon units close to you.
- play for victory points: make sure to complete all your battle tactics and hold more objectives through the game id possible. It is going to be a game that lasts all 5 rounds so you need to focus on getting ahead points wise every place you can.
- remember to retreat! Nurgle thrives in prolonged combat. Don't stick around if you don't need to.

Let us know how it goes 😀

Cheers,
Sunny

Yeah Plagueclaw and Verminlord Corruptor are the two big thing interresting to add, also the priest can be useful for a situational invocation dispel

The new warcry band (rotmire) is also quite good for MKoN, but really expensive until it's sold separately

Will do guys! However, I have a Grand Tournament that I am attending this coming weekend with my Nighthaunt, so all my focus and energy is on that for the moment. But I could see myself taking a break from death after the GT and field my Maggotkin again. The Vermind Lord Corruptor is a interesting suggestion - I have one of those already so that would be an easy addition to try out. I also have the Plague Priest and I really like that he is so cheap and a priest. A shame that Curse and Heal doesn't really make sense for him to pick in a Nurgle army.

Unfortunately i lost 20-14? or something like that. And after the kill on Nagash, everything went to shit pretty quick :D

Here is some pictures from the epic battle between the mass legions of Nagash and the disgusting Nurgle.
We rolled which mission we should do, and ended up doing the Realmstone Cache from the 2022-2023 Generals handbook. Unfortunately that meant that the first two rounds, there were only 1 objective, so it was a massive clash. In turn three managed to come behind me and create an opening, which meant that the Lord of Afflictions no command ability whtin 14" fucked hard with Nagash' Supreme Lord of Undead.

Take-aways: Holy shit the Supreme Lord of Undead command ability is amazing, espcially with a vampire lord giving Crimson Feast on 40 zombies. Mystic shields from Nagash to my Summonables was good as well, since i had to minimum the amount of damage from his units and hope for the best when i had to roll for disease mortal wounds (we agreed that i have to roll, which hurts to damage my own skellies)
Unfortunately was it a 1 objective type of map for the first two rounds, and most of my summonables got into fights pretty early.

oh well!
