Seeing as many excited hobbyists will be getting their new models tomorrow, I figured we best extend count kill alot's great 'Show us' series to include the new additions.

So, show us your Coven Throne or Mortis Engine!

Well, looks like I'm the first. Not a very good picture and I've still got to base it and do a few touch-ups, but close enough to show, I think.

Nice work, if you don't mind, how did you do your ghost horde?

I think it's done by mixing water with blue paint, in this case I would say that was tarquise hawk or ice blue or mixture of skull white, tarquise hawk and some water - that gives us some kind of a wash.

I bought citadel green wash and I'm going to use self made blue wash (just as described above) to make it look like on GW site.

I followed the painting guide in this month's White Dwarf pretty much. Definitely a better guide than I can give here, but as I recall...

astronomicon gray base paint. Then wash with a mixture of turquoise and asureman blue. Then dry brush astro-gray back on, followed by dry brushing a mix of astro & white, then lightly dry brush just skull white. After that, a few choice areas with Thraka Green.

It's a little more blue than I wanted - I'd probably lighten it up the turquoise if I was going to do it again.

Looking great Akiro, the spirit horde looks good, Don't think it looks too blue at all. As I've got one of these coming in the mail, how hard is it to put together? Did you paint the main components separately or did you put the whole thing together then paint?

I usually put the entire model together to play with, then lament my decision when I finally get around to painting it. However, this time my wife made me do it the right way.

I kept both halves of the spirit-hosts separate along with the base of the carriage, corpsemaster, altar, cage pieces and the reliquary. Put them all together after they were (mostly) painted. The cage was really the difficult part to align later. It has some gaps that I couldn't avoid, but they're not overly noticeable.

Also you really have to work to steady the banshees at the correct angle while they glue. Each one only contacts the cage in one spot, which looks great, but is a royal pain to hold while it dries. I recommend makeshift scaffolding with paint-pots and brushes

Akiro, I am thinking of using rare earth magnets to put the banshees on and make it more easily transportable. Since you've put it together how feasible do you think this is?

I haven't really tried much magnet work myself, but in this case I can't see it working very well. Each banshee connects to the bone cage at a small slit. Neither the cage nor the banshee have much room to squeeze a magnet in, but perhaps you could disguise one with a bit of bits work or some modeling? It might look weird though; the bone-cage is pretty thin.

Hrm, maybe use the magnet as the base for a greenstuff skull or something. I'll let you know how it works out.

I'm actually not familiar with the technique at all. Is there a tutorial or something on it laying around the intarwebs?

Drill a small hole in both the banshee and where you want to attach it, glue the pin into the banshee, you can now slot the banshees pin into the hole and it should stay if the hole is small enough to be fairly flush around the pin.

Definitely not too turquoise at all, great job on it. The model itself is an awe inspiring piece, and you have done wonderfully on it.

It's huuuuggeee, I can't wait to paint it (I put it in the assembly parts that they talked about in the most recent WD, so it's being painted in pieces :ghost: ); Hopefully I can paint it rather amazing, that thing deserves so much win on it.

Guys I'm impressed at how quickly you've got them assembled and paint, to such a high standard as well! Excellent work! Now the one question that's been intriguing me is what is the potential for using the spectral steeds as a spirit host for a Mousillon force?

All but 1 horse if heavily built into the host, if you decide o buy it to chop up it is doable but will need some serious green stuffing.

Thank god for your paint job Cthulhu; I thought I was the only one that though it was kinda crazy to paint just the metal on the 'Ethereal Host' without detail to cloth or any other such. It drives me insane that it's just so solid in it's colours, and yet tries to accentuate the metal parts! The 'Eavy Metal teams paint job just drives me nuts!

More on topic though, your paint job is quite amazing. I also LOOVEE the fact that the curtain flowing behind the main platform has a nice shading and everything, but also flows into an 'Ethereal' look at the end of it; Simply amazing, I love the details you picked out on the model. Makes it look so much better than the 'Eavy Metal's job..
