Thanks fellas

Right. eggspr. I officially need your recipe for that engine (especially the spirit horde!). That's how I want mine to look.

Would really appreciate just a quick what paints how and where if you get the time (or even a more detailed explanation).

Some other fine looking engines/ thrones in here people! Well done

Ask and you shall receive!!

Horde:
Base with Chaos Black spray
Paint entire horde (not armor etc) in Shadow Grey
Heavy Wash with Asurmen Blue
Drybrush with Dheneb Stone (don't be afraid to really bring out the highlights)
Heavy Wash with Thraka Green
Wash with Leviathan Purple
The two washes on top of the drybrushing really gives the drybrushing good depth and doesn't "look" like a drybrush, which is the goal.

Armor:
Base with Chaos Black spray
Paint with Chainmail
Wash with Thraka Green
Spotty wash with Ogryn Flesh (I just hit up the corrosion bumps with the Flesh to add some contrast to the green. Once the Horde is done all these colors will really pop especially after the Purple wash)

Throne:
Base with Chaos Black spray
Paint with Calthan Brown
Heavy Drybrush with Dheneb Stone
Heavy Wash with Badab Black (Drench it!)

Flames:
Base with Chaos Black spray
Paint Scorpion Green
Wash with Thraka Green (make sure you set it upright to dry so you get a natural looking shade effect as the bottom seem more green than the top).
Drybrush Scorpion Green AS WELL AS surrounding wood etc to produce glow effect.

This should get you started :) FYI I spray painted the sprues all chaos black before I cut them out even. A lot of people base it white... but I prefer the dark side of things, hence the profile pic

Hooray; thanks very much!

I was going to paint mine this weekend but I still have other models to do and it's my new policy not to buy stuff till existing stuff is done!

Next weekend.... cannae wait!

Thanks again

I may have to copy that recipe :) Tho' i Think I'll go easier on the blue, and add some more purple.

Thanks :)

Copy away my friend... just make sure you post some pics when it's done, i'd like to see it with more purple wash :)

Do you think it would be possible to make an engine/throne-combo, by magnetizing the characters and some of the stuff on it, so you could play it as either?

I am generally amazed. The elephant is great, by the way. I'd love to see pictures of the entire army in one place.

How long are these generally taking you all from start to finish?

@ headhunter: Thank you

@ Noobafrass: I would say from box to tabletop mine took me around 5 days. Would have been faster if I owned an airbrush.

@ Robtion: Thanks. Got a Mortis engine to paint up too but i really need to start painting some core troops first lol
