the colors are from the guide in the white dwarf.
basecoat: astronomican grey then wash with hawk turquoise and asurmen blue
drybrush with astro grey then astrogrey/skull white and finally skull white
finally a wash of hawk turquoise (i think) in the recesses.

Dear anyone with a mortis engine

I would love to see you all take place in the turning the world to darkness challenge. As this months was a mortis engine I feel all the fine mortis engines here would do good in it. The link is in my signature. Any finished mortis engine may enter no matter when built or painted , conversion or the standard out of the box one.

Ok, so this is my recently finished baby. I stuck close to the original GW style with the ghosts, but I wanted the engine itself to radiate a red/orange glow instead of a green one. The engine is actually magnetised onto the Ghost Swarm, but i t turned out the magnets are way stronger then the glue I used, so, if I want to detach them, it just snaps off the magnets. O well... Also, I tried to work more with 'lighting', like the ghosts that radiate a faint green light, aswell as the Engine itself with the orange glow.

Can you list the paints that you used for the spirit swarm please?

O boy, let me dust off my memory:

- Skull White base coat
- Thraka Green wash on the entire model aswell
- Drybrush a mix of either Goblin Green or Scorpion Green ( can't really remember, but it would not make to much difference), together with Enchanted Blue, I'd say 6:1 ( as the blue is very dominant) until you have a Mostly greenish ghostly colour
- Use this mix, and add Skull White repeatedly to get the Highlights until some parts are ALMOST only Skull White.
- If you want some parts to be more dark, add some more Thraka Green Wash to it, to give it an extra shadow/depth-effect

That should do the trick basically

EDIT: The armour on the Ghosts is simple: Mithril Silver, with a was of ANY Speia colour ( I used Gryphonne Sepia). Highlight slightly with Mithril Silver again to your liking. Seriously guys, armour this way looks fantastic; old, corroded but still shiny at some spots ( at least that's what I think )

@Olethros: That mortis engine is insane :O Yes it WAS worth the time. You are obviously an expert painter.

@Elbisrever: I really like the contrast between the dark engine/necro and the spirit host. The orange highlighting/glow looks great and is very well done

I think the flames on the skeleons look good but they might look better with the same orange glow/colour as the chassis.
