I was looking through my collection of models and realized how much I have collected in 3...or has it been 4 years time. This collection or metal, plastic, and some resin was started by a single metal zoanthrope. I bought it on a whim because I liked the model, little did I know what that single purchase would do to me and my wallet. ^_^

My first fantasy model was actually my whole bretonnian army. My friend gave me his whole army for $100 and a guarantee that I would give fantasy a chance.

What was your first model that introduced you to this game?

My first model was a goblin wolf chariot. The chariot itself is nowdays my pump wagon (see my plog) but I still have the crew in their original paint (could only find one of them though).

Even took some photos xD

I still like this dude ^^

My first ever warhammer model was RTB 1. the first plastic Space marines. But I already had dozens of war gaming and D&D models. Some of those SM are still in my Salamanders force, but looking a bit old now.

That's another reason I like looking at my old models is seeing the improvement in my work. Unfortunately I no longer can find some of my original painted minis. T_T.

I bought and painted a Space Marine Attack Bike back in 1998. Nothing fancy, just ultramarine blue. No army became of it. My first army was IG but was later replaced by Dark Eldar in 1999. My first fantasy models was a box of WE archers, a treeman and a couple of blisters of Waywatchers also bought some time during 98.

My first model? A chaos defiler, painted up in Black Legion colors. Skeletons for fantasy IIRC.

We bought the boxed set that came with Bretonnia/Lizardmen with my friend and I ended up with the Knights.

My first 'single' model that I bought must have been the bretonnian damsel with a sword on foot. I really liked the model as a teen (small wonder, note cleavage) and now it's waiting to be converted to a Lahmian sister.

Here's my first. Date on this is October-November of 2008.

I later stripped this mini and it became part of my White Scars army. I kinda wish I hadn't - I think it would be nice to have the visual representation of how much I've grown as a painter in the last few years.

My first miniatures was a box of skeletons from waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back. I was 7 I believe and my dad and I had an excellent time cutting them to pieces and remodelling them, I think that's were my compulsion for conversions started to. We had one bending down to pick his head back up and another one stabbing him up the ar......lower spine. Great fun. Then my dad bought me the Leitch priest on chariot with the four skelly horses and the giant bat wings on the side. went straight out to get litch purple. (I know I spelt that wrong):zombie:

My first mini was an Eldar Jetbike (not really very useful for judging how long I've been in the hobby as they've been around in that incarnation for flippin' ages!).

First mini's I bought were a group of plastic bow armed skinks, I've still got em' lying about somewhere...

Mad'At, thanks for posting your very first miniature, has really given me hope that one day I might turn out to be a half decent painter... :P

Here goes dating myself :D

My first fantasy models (army) were from the Dark Elf Marauder range MM70 to MM73! :| Most of these I still have.

My first 40k miniatures were from the Ork range though they got replaced fairly quickly with some Eldar. Just didn't find Orks my sytle of play. An Avatar and 8 Banshees... which I still have and use to this day. Along with some Harlequins.

Well I'm a year or two older then those models so sure wasn't old enough to have bought them myself.

Also I think I been sitting around warhammer too long I almost wrote because I was released in 1986 which is a strange way to say I was born in 1986.

My first model hm that was either the wood elf general on steed not the newer one though the old 4th or 5th edition one or some 2nd edition orks and space marines I think when I was maybe 10 or so.

my first model was Konrad back in 2008 i think, i bought his and some paint stuffs to see if i could get into the hobby, i liked how he turned out and because of that i have been going strong ever since

the only thing i eventually changed was i gave him eyes two years ago, they were blacked out before...i was too scared to paint them

when I was in going into 5th grade I bought and painted a necron immortal. then I did nothing for four years and my history teacher got me back into the game and I painted a vampire counts skeleton musician

My first ever citadel model was Chopper, the skysurfer dude from Judge Dredd/2000AD.

My first warhammer 40k model was a squat. One of the ones before they did the whole bikers thing, I think it was just after Rogue Trader came out!

I never bought any WFB models until the first boxed set came out - so it was high elves and gobbos.

My first miniature was one of those ugly vulture-things from the general Undead range. I still have it somewhere but it's embarrassing to show as it's so ugly!
I thought being an artist meant you could automatically paint miniatures...well, I failed horribly. Also this was in the period that miniatures were considered cool if you used almost neon-like colors.

My first model ever was a Hobgoblin general from DnD's Chainmail series. Being my first model and 13 years old, I felt the black skin and golden weapons went well together :-). From WHF, I think the first model I finished was the orc general from the 5th edition starter set... by then, I had upgraded to green weapons.

My first model of any type ever was actually from the LotR Strategy Battle game - it was the Mines of Moria starter set, A box set of Soldiers of Minas Tirith, The Moria Goblins paint set, and the Men of Minas Tirith paint set (both paint sets came with about 3 of the model iin question. since I received these paint sets I have never seen anything like them in any GW). I received these for Christmas six years ago (I think).

My first WHFB model(s) were Konrad and a unit of Grave Guard, because back then I didn't understand that I needed some core units!
