If I may ask, what did you do to the blood on the ghast to make it "pop" like that? The most success I've had was using wash to tint water-effects (made the blood coming out of my vargulf's mouth & off of his claws look fresh) but it was SUPER expensive and quite difficult to accomplish. I've tried paint-on gloss sealant, lacker, etc and still haven't found exactly what I'm looking for, however your ghast looks very, very close! I'd greatly appreciate your insight.

Cheers,
Brahm

Actually, i found a painting guide on this forum that i followed, the only problem now is that i can't find it back to link it.

the paint that i used was -> tamiya color clear red X-27 <- which i bought on e-bay.
i will search for the link again, hopefully with more succes...

after some searching... i don't like to quit so easily

painting blood etc.
click on one of the guides and download it.
Thanks so much, Grrremlin. I'll have to find that TX27 somewhere, as it does look like it holds the secret to the "fresh gore" look I've sought after for so long! Greatly appreciate your time!

Brahm

My newest creation. I worked on him for long time (well, I wasn't sculpting nor painting for some time). But finally I managed to complete it. It was inspired by one of my favourite games, The Elder Scrolls Morrowind.
His right hand is made out of green stuff as he had tentacle instead. His left hand is almost entirely sculpted out of the metal, because it was covered by the tentacle. His right breast was covered too, so it is made out of green stuff too. I also sculpted his lower jaw, because he hadn't had any. The tongue is made out of green stuff as well. There are several other light touches and improvements made out of green stuff. Handle of his knife is added from some other model, because there was the tentacle.

But I hope you will like it :)
Beware, the pic is huge (4340 x 3042)

Here's my ten painted Ghouls. Only 30 left, I hope I'm going to get 'em painted in the summer.

I got 10 ghouls for xmas from my brother (he buys randomly but always seems to get something I can use), got 2 free with a magazine, had three old style ghouls already painted and another three in my bits box. That made 18 ghouls. But I wanted a unit of 25. So this is what I did.

First, I thought I’d try a change with my painting. Not my paint - I’m sticking with enamels (its become traditional) - but my paint style, going against 25 years of black undercoated cartoon figures. I’ve kept elements for faces and clothes, but for flesh and hair I instead tried a white undercoat and washes (not easy with enamel paint thinners).

Here’s a comparison between a ghoul I already had painted (a few years ago) and the new style.

As for turning 18 figures into a 25 regiment - I needed unit fillers. So I made two on 4 man bases, using just one ghoul for them. One is a pile of bones and skulls the unit has made ready for gnawing on at suppertime, the other is a little bit of a graveyard where they’ve scratched away the soil and dragged out a coffin, tearing off the lid to see what juicy treat lies inside.

The unit altogether …

You know, I’m going back to cartoon. The unit just doesn’t photograph anywhere near as good

Ah well, I tried.

My first finished Unit for my VC army. I really dig the ghoul models in general. Hope I attach these right...

OK, that unit filler is freaking awesome! I love the idea, Chopxsticks; consider me officially jealous ;)

Thanks! I found the idea on line for the rat ogre swinging the bell. Sold all my rats but him, and thought he looked perfect for a crypt horror head :devil2:

Finished my first five Ghouls (I paint slowly). I wanted them to have a bunch of different skin tones and made my Ghast an albino so he'd stand out a bit. Also tried to nail the blood effects/make them look like they'd just dug into some fresh corpses. What do you guys think?
