Cool game, looks like a really good supplement.

It seemed to be a pretty tough battle, with the empire player having a little cavalry-fuelled advantage.

Id agree. There are a few spots where you question GWs choices - a cannon (for example). Since we crumble so hard, the VC need some luck to be competitive.

I have read the novella. It seems a little sided because it is. The early battles are supposed to be more difficult for the undead. That being said, after watching this battle report and hearing about the campaign, It seems as if the vamps can pull it off the tide turns very strongly in favor of themselves in later battles.
In other words,
It seems to me that it is set up so the empire have to win to keep things in their favor. Each time they lose it gets harder and harder for them to complete their mission.

This is just my guess as I have not read the campaign book only the novella.

Hi Luke,

Thanks for the great video bat rep. wow, what a difference an inch can make. I was pleased you guys decided to play on and I liked the outcome of the 'alternate universe'.

I haven't read the Sigmars Blood book, but so far from watching your reports it does to kinda stack in the empires favour. The unit of knights in the first battle seems a little much, and other than Manfred the vamps don't have any decent units in the second, though admittedly Manfred is so good he's all you really need, and as long as keeps those cannon balls off of him he should do fine, as you proved. but yeah, what are your thoughts on the balance of the campaign?

You know I've tried not to have a predetermined mindset going into each battle but it really does feel strongly in favor of the empire in the first 3 games so far. Next game is going to be ethereal vs nothing but light magic. Seems like i'll be dead before I get there. *shrug*

I'll try to withhold judgement until the end, but it definitely feels like GW isn't familiar with their own rules - I mean, all I tried to do was make manfred survive turn 1 ... but having to fully deploy first and not being able to enter any building just meant I had to get lucky to survive the first cannon shot. It's not the fact that i'd lose someone so powerful that bothers me - it's that my army will immediately crumble because ghorst can't survive either. Give me another, non-VC army, and i can stand losing my general.

I'm loving the story and mechanics though - implementation could use some refactoring

I am really enjoying your vids.
I was trying soooo hard to get a friend, picking fantasy back up, to play empire so we could play out this campaign.
Sadly he opted for WoC :(

Side Question:
What are you using for your video editing?
I saw the mac in the background. That you?
If so please fill me in. I don't want to have to bounce around mac to pc to youtube.
Thanks

Thanks for the comments!
Yep - that's my Macbook air - using iphone pics put into keynote to make the presentations. Use keynote for annotations and recording the presentation. Export to quicktime then convert with MPEG Streamclip and you're good to go!

Thanks Luke,
Love your reports btw. Seen them all!
I have been trying to talk 2 friends into play the SigBlood with me.
Thanks for posting.

Just watched both vids. These are really cool batreps. The quality is great and it sounds like you're having fun. Thanks for letting me get a peek at Sigmar's Blood. I'm looking forward to the next round. I'm rooting for Ghorst so much it surprises me.

Luke buddy. You are wrong about Hexes needing a line of sight.

Look at page 31 in the basic rule book. Under choosing a target. Note the second 'general' rule: "The Wizard does not need line of sight to the target.

Then look under hexes specifically.

"Targets of hex spells need not lie in the caster's forward arc.

I think this makes it clear that hexes only have to be in spell range. :)

Yeah, you're right. it's really odd because it must have been a misprint or fixed, because in the back of my (small) BSB, the grid says it needs LoS. I think they fixed it

It was amended in earlier faqs. Same reasin the victory points in the small book differs to large book.

What did you do about the upgrades table being botched?
