Skaven Fell Blade and Nightshroud

The Fell Blade states that it gives the bearer S10, etc, etc.

My Skaven Opponent states that this is not a "Strength Bonus" but instead makes the bearer S10.

He claims that the NightShroud would not work to negate the S10 of the Fell Blade?

Does anyone else see it this way?

It go from STR 4 to 10 from a magic weapon, if this is not a bonus what is?

The Nightshroud clearly negate that.

The important part is that the fell blade states that it "Gives the bearer strength 10". By giving it a value it's a bonus. Had it been worded that "the bearer's strength becomes 10" it would be different.

Would he be S10 without the Fell Blade? Is the S10 a direct result of wielding the Fell Blade? Then it is a Strength Bonus, and the Nightshroud negates it.

This is his logic.

Other Magic Weapons list their bonus as +1, +2, etc...

Since the fell blade just says "gives the bearer S10" it is therefore not a strength bonus but is instead organic to the bearer.

Really frustrating to have to go through all these counter arguments.

Maybe pack up the soldiers and not play that guy until the new Skaven book. He'a really grasping here, and with your other thread as well. Doesn't sound like he wants to let you have fun playing your expensive and time consuming game, and that's plenty enough reason to send him down the ramp.

Even if it said it like that, you are receiving a strength bonus from a weapon, and a magical one at that. Nightshroud would have you striking at your normal strength since the character is not strength 10, the weapon is making it strength 10.
