The skeletons as they currently stand in the list are identical to the old VC ones. I now put a new question before you; should they change in line with the new book (ie, lt armour included, cheaper command choices)?

Same goes for the zombies... old or new versions?

Skeletons change to match new with the exception they can upgrade to heavy armour (always loved the old armoured skeletons )

Zombies keep to old versions to give some sense that the necromancy used by Nagas's army is superior.

I liked the old armoured skeletons is hardly a reason to allow the skellies heavy armour in this list... I see no fluff justification for it.

Unfortunately I don't have my old book with me so I can't compare them myself, but in what ways were the old ones better?

Tbh, I think we shouldn't pick and choose between the two; either both skellies and zombies are new, or both are old.

To be honest I've never understood why skellies could never have heavy armour, they are raised from warriors all over the world and there's loads of troops that wear heavy armour, fluff wise it would make sense and it did so in the 4th edition undead book where you could upgrade them for this. The only reason why it was dropped to was make the then new Grave Guard "more elite" so I suppose in effect I'm wanting the old, OLD skeletons.
Old zombies at S3, T3, I can maybe see the S3 but I would have thought zombies would be tough to kill and therefore not T2.

As for the Zombies - I think we should have the new rules about being easy to raise, but keep them at T3. I wouldn't be too bothered with S2 though...

Skellies ideas are ace. Keep 'em all.

I think we should stick to one basic list, either 6th or 7th ed. They're both balanced enough. If we mix them, we'll have to run through every unit to see if it can't get overpowering combos with another unit.

I suggest leaving the troops as they are in whatever VC list is current, as this represents the state of affairs for necromancy as the rules account for. maybe focus on special units, like replacing varghulf with something dead.

Indeed. Bob, please keep a look out for the date of the last post in a thread before you add anything to it. It's been almost 2 years since a reply was made in this one.

I'll let DoN handle this one though, being his turf and all. :)
