Pew Pew!

Who said the Old Ones are gods? From the sounds of everything they are either a) a space-faring race that created the Slaan or b) Ancestors to the Slaan that devolved into the Slaan that are found in the warhammer world. [...] Ironically, if I remember correctly, the Warhammer: Lizardmen also implies that the Elven Gods are actually their mythologies that elves built up around the old ones.

If we're going by the Old World being part of the 40K universe, then, the Old Ones were an ancient space-faring race that were incredibly advanced to the point that they may as well have been gods. They were at war with the C'Tan, who were an ancient race of energy beings that fed off stars. Cannot remember which side acted first, but to help with their war, the C'Tan enlisted the aid of - and subsequently tricked - the Necrontyr, turning them in the Necrons, while the Old Ones created a bunch of psychic races who could interact with the Warp (the Old Ones couldn't), chief of which being the Eldar, but also Orcs, Humans and Slaan, the latter of which is believed to have gone instinct. The Old Ones were eventually defeated, the Necrons turned on the C'Tan, and the rest is history the future.

Ironically, some of that is history too since technically earth would be a terraformed old ones planet not in the warp and the warhammer world exists outside of time/space. So the warhammer world exists both in our past, present and future.

Hi guys, first time poster, recent Undead Legions player.... primary Lizardmen player!
Had to chip in on this subject, the above shows why ;)

One thing I wondered, and which proves a problem to the whole
"Old Ones and elf gods are the same, but worshipped differently" idea is:
- How come Lileath, very much alive and very much an elf god, does not interact with the Lizardmen?

I do realize that Lizardmen were never the intended race to inherit the planet, the elves are,
but wouldn't she use them, the powerful tool that they are, to reach the old ones original goal?
I cant help but feel that it doesn't add up.
It would make more sense, to me at least,
that the Elf gods are themselves creations of the old ones, as their powerlevel
seems to be in same league as first spawning slann.

Then the "worshiped differently" part can come into play.
I cant help but feel that Sotek and Khaine are basicly the same entity, as their key issues involves the same thing.
It would also explain why the Slann accepts the worship of Sotek, as they do not categorize him as an old one.

If this ISNT the case, and the gods are old ones, it means this:
Lileath is very fond of explaining "the cycle of things", which is that the gods came to this world from the last because cause slipped in. That means they created lizardmen as a counter-force, meant to fight back the incoming chaos invasion.
If all this is true, it means that Araloth will create the new generation of (not necessarily) Lizardmen, to prepare to the next breach.
Could that in fact be the new "Not space Marines" faction everyone speaks of?
