Oh yes.

And yeah also Dryads Yorga.... 8 took on 50 storm vermin in the woods

8 you say? Nice. But he didn't have any units of 50 unless you took on both of his two stormvermin on at the same time? I believe he ran them two units of 30.

Yes they do. The Overall winner and guy who won all three of his games was a skaven player yesterday. I'm not saying it is not a tier 1 army. They are! They just don't win by out fighting you in hand to hand combat.

Skirmishers are steadfast in woods and ranked units lose steadfast when under little trees so I'm sure that was a part of it.

Just yesterday someone said he had been working on an army (mind you it still ended up looking like crap) to beat my Grey Knights...that he's never played against or seen...and he hasn't even played a game in a year. I don't think I need any more proof that some people are just stupid...

I often feel like stuff is overpowered but when trying it out myself i have realised it is more that i just didn't know how to deal with it or my opponent got lucky. So i have been trying to avoid complaining about rules and concentrate on ways to beat them regardless.

In your sort of situation there is often not much you can do as people are stubborn and narrow minded.
A. Find someone else to play
B. Swap armies
C. Play a weaker list
D. Explain some tactics to your opponent about how to deal with your army

I started out wth Eldar in 40k as my first Wargaming army. My friend players Grey Knights and my other frend plays Necrons.

I still feel justified at the least saying my army was broken. It desperetly needs a new Codex.

Since I started playing Necrons myself (and a small Tau force occasionally) i'm finding 6th in general to be pretty balanced, a few out of date army books aside. Thats not to say you can't break it (with things like three Night Scyths) but thats a choice as opposed to 'trying to lose'.

Fantasy I still can't comment, as i'm still putting my Vampire army together. :)

I never throw games or "retire" a build. All of my old gaming group (and the others at the LGS) are a bunch of underhanded, devious, douche nozzles who would continually beat your ass then give anything up. It shows with the amount of OTPs that everyone used to play. I've never played a broken list because I've never gone for cheese squeeze armies (you hear me 5th edition Empire players because I'm talking to you!)

If anything sit down and help him fix it. I hated people helping me with my lists but I came to realize I was biased about my own armies. I liked seeing on the field what I liked seeing and never considered a fresh set of eyes to look it over about what they wouldn't like seeing. It helps.

my buddys play skaven and lizzardmen.
they whined on my dark elves beeing broken (true) even when they won flat out. i bought vampire counts, play with a dragon with lord and 1TG. now they never win, still whining and wants me to bring dark elves;)
and this comes from guys playing twin towers dbl abomb or doomwheel. backed with a cannon or two.....

ohhhh. 5th ed empire gunline....great fun they were.. sweet memories for an old guy;)

I've lost every game I played using Twin Towers, double aboms. Just not enough troops after that to soak up unwanted combats. And warmachines make short work of my towers.:swear:

@Yorga I've been running Furnace, dub Wheels, Abomb, 8-10 Gutter Runners. Filling the rest with slaves, Clannies, and HQ to taste. So far so good. I ditched the Bell after Dwellers faq.

This has been happening to me, my Empire player friend gets his arse handed to him by me every game. The main reason why: he plays a pretty bad list (maybe not bad, just not the best), he is trying to get a horde of buffed up great swords to work against my GG deathstar and double ME (one of the games I ran the maindrazor list at 3k points and destroyed him). He runs two cannons and a hellfire gun but he fields all 3 right next to each other. He protects them very well I must say, but I don't really need to hunt them down when only one of them has LOS of anything I care about. I don't know how to go about helping him w/o looking like a jerk. Because I know if he wanted to he could make a list that is made to screw my army in the arse because empire has the tools needed to do so. But he could do a lot better against me even with his current list if he simply deployed better. So, ya maybe I'm playing fairly well but I'm winning mostly because he isn't doing well from deployment to turn 2. How do I reach these keeeeeds? Lol.

You guya used to give me mental fits of rage. I was literally about to blow my top every time I saw it lined up. Cannons ... more cannons :|... what'ya know some more cannons . Then they splash on the fun stuff. Steam Tanks, Hellblasters and every dude has a musket.

You call them out of their douchebaggery and they always say

"No way, I've got mounted calvary." as they begin throwing down a nice block of 10 White Wolves. :swear:

Ugh... I have nightmares about that formation. And of course when rolling for table sides they ALWAYS seem to get the one with the hill.

The switch armies and play again is a fun tactic. It's how I proved to a friend that his Skaven could indeed beat my Dwarfs back in 6th edition. I actually regretted that battle, however, since my Dwarfs would almost never beat his Skaven again thanks to the tactics he saw me use...

This is indeed a touchy subject. There really isn't a good way to deal with it, and I know a lot of players easily take the army switch suggestion as you saying "I can beat you with anything." Generally speaking I tend to, when it happends, try to be lighthearted about it. For instance, I will make remarks about "if that would have happend I would have been in big trouble" or something like it. So rather than slapping him in his face with your superiority, so to speak, as it helps creating a better envoirment overall.

No one likes to be told outright to L2P. It is just a game, after all.

Peace

You can always play less powerful things. Last night I played my buddies Dwarves and instead of taking my usual really intense list, I took a Stigoi themed list. Was good times.

What is it with skaven and being broken? I remember when starting off my VC a few years back, 8th ed whfb. My playing and list building wad utterly terrible and yet I still wiped the floor with the enemy every time I played against skaven. No, my luck was average, I was not fiedling hordes of GG, had no ethereals and I ran my vampire lord without any armour wihout a bunker....and sometimes put him in towers when the enemy was bristling with artilery......good ol' days :)

I do agree with Danceman to some extent - my first reaction would not be to swap armies and then crush him (not that I could do that :( ), as it is likely to still end with sour feelings.

Personally I would have a chat, help them figure out what they could use to counter you next time, especially if it was a newbie.

That said, there are just some poor players who like to whine, and to be blunt I just wouldn't play them again.

I tell them to go shove their pansy list up their ass, I build my armies around the background/ for close combat, and I'm not particularly a good general I don't really get tactics I horde rush or I turtle, but I won't change for anything

There ya go, that'll make ya some hard core friends!

Kick all them pansie-asses out the window.

Promise you will never, ever play your army against them again, but ONLY if they buy you a completely new army to play them with, and enough glue and paint to put it together. If they are willing to drop hundreds and give you a free new army, then you owe it to them not to play VC against them.
