You just keep spitting out inspirational stuff don't you? XD

The zombies look great so far, and I noticed we've use the same kind of conversion with a zombie swinging the "banner" zombie in a rope around the neck.

Also, what do you use to make the rocks? It looks great, didn't think of it before but now I want to know since you showed us unpainted.

I would spread that green on the Wraith around to all your Ethereals. I think it looks awesome. I'm stoked to see new updates here already. Do you have a list of what units you're painting towards to have a full army? I wish I had the nerve to start VC with a Barrows-themed army from the beginning. It's a very Tolkien take on European Gothic Horror. I really dig everything I've seen so far.

Cheers for all the kind comments, guys!

I use Fimo for these, it's a soft modelling clay which cures to a pretty hard finish when baked in the oven, but remains quite easy to cut.

Basically I just sculpt the rough shape and then chip away happily with my scalpel to get the hewn stone effect.

Yeah currently I work towards 1500 pts. Basically my list includes the skeletons, GG, a necromancer, the wraith, a CC and 2x5 wolves. Next up will then be 24 ghouls and 10 black knights to get to 2k pts and after that finally all the nice choices of the really big, fun stuff we all enjoy. :konrad:

The zombies in white though are just messing with my brain, so much brightness......

Worry not! No white shall be left once I am finished with these. ;)

how did you do the green on your wraith if you dont mind me asking?

Sure, it's scorpion green mostly, the darker part is warpstone glow mixed in and the lighter part is skull white mixed in. For the fires I always also included some golden yellow, but I left that away when I painted the wraith.

Ooooh VERY nice work!

May I ask what shade you used for your zombies? I have not done much painting since they released the 'new' paints etc. and after seeing these pics my unpainted zombies are looknig at me form my shelf, and its making me uneasy... :grave:

I actually live in the westernmost tip of Austria, close to the Lake of Constance. But that could still be quite a long distance from where you live; Germany is not that small after all. :)

@Crusader: I was a strong disciple of the religion of The Divine Devlan Mud, but agrax earthshade works just as well. The other shades I used on the zombies were seraphim sepia, nuln oil, the really old thraka green ink from waaayy back in the mid 2000's and baal red. When I start work on the ghouls I plan to use druchii violet as well, but haven't tried that one out yet. The thing with washes is to apply them in thin layers so that they can intensify in some areas of the model and remain quite translucent in others. Whats good about zombies is that you can paint pretty sloppy and no one will notice because they are supposed to look rotten anyway. ^^

I happen to be a lowly disciple in the cult of white undercoat. Worship at the idol of the Spray Can or Paint pot and the nature of the Paint will be revealed to you.

Love all your work, that cairn wraith is especially awesome.

Why thank you! Much obliged sir. ^^
We have some pretty decent snowfall here today - perfect conditions for staying indoors and getting some more minis painted. :)

Amazing models! Very clean paintjob. I especially like your unit fillers (Both the idea and the actual pieces ;))

Hehe, thanks robinsuu! Feel free to add dolmen to your army anytime, I feel it goes well with warhammer's undead.

Now for something else.
Braaiiiiinns...

I really wasn't too enthusiastic about painting these, but it had to be done. I feel they are some of the worst models currently in the GW range, the ridiculous hairstyles, the metres-wide hands, the casual-style clothing... but they are kinda necessary in a VC army and I had the models lying around anyway.

It was a bit difficult to paint them with differently coloured clothes so that they are not too uniform and still stick to the overall appearance of the army. But I guess they turned out OK, what do you guys think?

Now I look forward much more to painting the dire wolves and corpse cart still missing in my 1000 pts list! :)

A really good looking Zombie unit you have there Constant. Loving the colours you have used on them. Not quite sure how I missed those Grave Guard and Skeletons on page one, brilliant looking units. The colour scheme you have works perfectly.

Keep up the good work.

Cheers

Thanks Telliphas, I intend to! :)

I spent this week's evening painting my corpse cart. I really like the model, but really, it was a pain in the a** to assemble and paint. Still I really enjoyed working on this nicely sculpted figure after all the bad bad zombie models of 10 days ago. :)

Really, really good. Both zombies (which I actually kinda like, but still prefer my own 3rd edition zombies) and corpse cart. Corpse cart, is, in my opinion, one of the best I have ever seen. I really like subtle style of painting, just like yours, without extreme contrasts and highlights.

This has to be one of my favourite models.

Nice work again Constant. The muted tones of the paint job really help unify the model as a whole. I'd would of liked to see the blooded areas pop more, but to be fair I don't think they would gel with your painting style.

What metal colour have you used on the bell?

Cheers
Telliphas
