Working on a 2400pts VC this year and its purely for painting and modeling so im really wanting each unit to stand out with a few conversions. I will be taking my time to make sure i put the best paint job on them that i can. The deadly alliance part comes from putting a grey seer with a unit of skaven zombies in the army. I was going to put a grey seer being controlled by a necromancer but i preferred the alliance idea. Thats as far as the skaven being in the army. I have 20 island of blood skaven clan rats but im only converting and painting 10 for now due to lack of bitz.

The converted parts are from spare skeleton parts

I already started on one i was fairly happy with the skin colour on it but i will be mixing the colours throughout the unit

I've got a big Skaven army, so this will be interesting to see them as the undead.

Good luck!

Thanks man i just hope the conversions and the paint job does the idea some justice!

Spunge, Hi! Nice to meet you.

If this is indicative of the overall quality that we have to look forward to, I'm very excited. You've pulled off these first few conversions with some real panache, and I can't wait to see what's to come! I love the spears through the torsos, looks great. And the skeleton arms are a great fit. The painted one with the skin greenstuffed over the join looks phenomenal.

Definitely gonna keep checking in on this thread! Are you doing this just for fun, or a commission? Either way, good on you for setting a deadline.

Thanks for the kind word man. I thought i went a bit overboard with some of the spear work on them! I'm not really doing for fun (but i wouldn't be doing it if it wasn't fun if you get what i mean!) but more as a test to myself to get a pretty decent painted army done in 2014. Iv never posted in forums or anything before either so this year im making a big go of it.But again thanks for the kind words and i should get some more sttuff up soon!

Bit of an update guys. Havnt been painting the last few days thats why i only have 2 more finished. I think these came out pretty decent and now that i know the colour scheme i will be using i should be able to get the rest done a bit quicker.
The deadly duo!

Please share you thoughts on what you guys think. I know i need to add a bit more gore and do a bit more work on there clothes so any ideas would be helpful!
Thanks guys!!!

Looking great so far. As to weathering the cloth, I like to stipple Mournfang Brown, whatever Graveyard Earth is called now, with some Dawnstone Grey, then spot hit green and brown washes/glazes to mud the whole thing together. Remember less is more with the whole endeavor. Planned your command group yet? I know you mentioned not playing with the army, but it's an excuse for two extra characterful guys in the unit.

Also, what's your idea for the Seer? I've seen a few Necro/Seer model conversions here and there.

Heh - I was looking through your pics and thought to myself "you could make an eye a hole - it'll look just like an eye socket!" - and then on the next picture after scrolling - bam! - an eye socket! xD

Good work with them! I was thinking that making skaven into zombies would be difficult, but you're managing very fine! They definitely look undead :)

Good luck with the project!

Thanks man i will use them colours on the next few guys. I will be putting a command group in but it will be after i finish these first 10. The plan is to convert 10 clan rats then move onto a few other things in the army so i hopefully i will have enough bitz left for more conversions. As for the Grey seer most of them are still metal i think so im not to sure about it yet. I like the Lord Skrolk model so i was thinking of putting him on a scenic base in the middle of the unit kinda like hes controlling them from there.

Thank you! I thought i was trying to much on converting these clan rats because with the island of blood models there's not a lot of options. But so far i think there not coming out to bad.

Seriously Spunge, don't stop with these conversions. They're awesome and inspiring. I don't think there's enough zombies or skeletons that are from non-human races.

Tried a different color on the skin tonight and im going for a greeny type of colour on it. Not to confident with it so far but time will tell

Thanks man you have defiantly given me a confidence boost! You do see a lot of zombies that are human form so i thought (well hoped!) that a conversion job on some Skaven might work.

Wow guys its been a bit to long! I haven't been hobbying as much as i should but i did get the zombie converted unit finished for now!

This guy didn't come out to well. I tried to make him look like hes coming out of a swamp or something but i will but i down to experience for now xD

So next thing im going to be working on is the dire wolves from the battalion. Fairly happy with the colour scheme for now but this guys not finished yet.

Thanks for looking guys!!

The headless skaven is awesome. And don't be so hard on yourself with the guy emerging from the base... depending on what you're using for basing materials, just throw some weeds or what have you on his head and trailing down into the swamp and he'll look great!

Looks good dude! Would be nice with a better camera though :)

Wow great theme! Undead skaven, love it! And it looks like you're having fun with it, and doing a great job. :) I like the skaven with the spear through him.
