Hey All! :|

I am just starting my vampire counts and so far I have 1x Battalion 1x Wight king 1x Winged vampire and 1x Necromancer.

I am going to start off playing at 1000 point level, and I need some special/rare. So far i like the look of cairn wraiths, hexwraiths and grave guard. Any feedback would be lush, thanks! ^^ :vampire3: <3

Welcome to the wonderful world of the living dead! Boys' room is to the left, little ghouls' room is down the hall to the right.

If those are the units you interested in getting, then I'd say grab 2 wraiths and a banshee for a rare unit (I personally think they are better as hero choices though).
Skellies are better with handweapon and shield over spears.
Field a vampire hero with Armor of Destiny and Red Fury for your general.
Once you start building lists for bigger point games, you'll want about 35 ghouls and plenty of zombies. GG are fantastic and I personally use 30 of them with great weapons, full command and Banner of the Barrows.

Here's a quick ditty based on what you have/want. 20pts to spare

LORDS:
Master Necromancer

HEROES:
Wight King
Wraith

CORE:
15 Skeletons FC
20 Ghouls
5 Dire Wolves

SPECIAL:
5 Hexwraiths
20 Grave Guard GW FC

Master necro uses skellies as a bunker. Wraith and Wight King go in Ghouls or Grave Guard to do the fighting.

Thanks foo the replies guys!:D I'll take what you've said into account and since I have my army list writing in my GW today (they'll probably try to ram expensive products down my throat, though.) I'll bring up what you've both said and hopefully get a decent list going!:D

Heres the update guys, Ive got a seemingly decent 2000 point list as thats what everyone in my area tends to play at, I'll post the new list in a minute :)

I'm pretty sure that you're not allowed to post up individual prices of upgrades and stuff. Some legal stuff...

Nice looking list though, although I'd definitely split the wolves into two units of five. The versatility they gain is massive, after all they're never going to kill much anyway:D

I would put the screaming banner on the skele horde

Could save some points by dropping the champ and standard from the black knights, keep the musician for swift reforms but in my experience, champions and standards on small cav units / flankers are rarely worth it.

+1 to splitting up the wolf units

I hear that units of 20 ghouls aren't really worth it. Not my personal exp though, but I think there is a general consensus that you need at least 25-30 ghouls to be effective.

Hey there

I would drop Fear Incarnate, Supernatural Horror and Flying Horror and take Quickblood and Red Fury. Seed of Rebirth doesn't stack with the ward save unfortunately, so I'd drop that as well. Try boosting your caster level to at least 3 if possible. I run a level 3 vamp and it works for me.
I'd drop the necro that's riding the cart. Put the points into a dispel scroll and boost the number of ghouls to 35. Since you have master of the dead, you can afford to drop some skellies. Take those points to help increase the number of ghouls and GG. At this point level, you can maybe get away with 25 of them. I prefer 30 grave guard but that's at 2500 points.
You can definitely benefit from splitting up the wolves. Drop the champ, too. The knight are fine with just a musician like RobTheWise said. Their leadership is low but they can function as a good flanking unit for the ghouls (who can't take a musician).

Yeah you might want to remove the points costs for individual items (total costs for characters etc are fine but something like the vargulf, who has no upgrade can only be listed as xxx points or something similar) as they are not allowed to be used on the forums due to legal reasons.

Ok thanks for all the Tips & info guys, I'll do what i can as most of the models are built.
Deleted the post because of the points thing, and again thanks for the help!

I will just say spears are completely viable on skellies. They're free and you change a parry for an extra rank of attacks. A lot of people only run spears with a Morris engine but u personally always prefer spears. I rarely charge with them and rather receive the charge, I find it to be worth it.
