Trick about life is never try and dispel throne. Only ever chuck dice at dwellers and flesh. Also because of book he only knows 4 spells and has no saves. Run 3 varghiests with a champion with the champion in front. You will get the wizard every time.

No it's not that easy..

All the spell was irresistible (with Hoeth).. I sent 4 Vargheist against the mage unit, but he wasn't in the first rank and my vargheist died.

Hoeth needs doubles and he needs to meet the casting value. I normally find this means one or two spells each round are not I-Forced. also what does his unit look like?

He always casted Irresistible force :frown:

He uses 30 Swordmaster with carandryan, 20 fenix guard with two 4°lv mage shadow and Life, and core

How was the wizard not in the front rank then if there were only two characters?

Where does he put carandryan? In the swordmasters or Fenix guard? I'm guessing the SMs for the MR3. If he has full command in the Phoenix Guard, in CC the heros have to displace everybody but the champ, correct?

Prior to CC, the heros can hang back behind the command group, so the front rank looks like this


H - Hero
c - muso, banner
C - Champ

xxHxx <-- second rank
HcCcx <-- front rank

In close combat, doesn't the hero have to displace the muso or banner? Like so?

xxcxx <-- second rank
HHCcH <-- front rank

Characters don't have to displace, they are allowed to remain out of the fight if they wish

High Elves are my primary army (BOO!! HiSS!!-I know)
The book of Hoeth and Teclis are both broken IMHO.
You should have a much better time of it if he leaves those two things at home.
I don't use either...because I like to actually play and enjoy the game.
It sounds like your enemy is more experienced than you,and he's coming as hard as possible.
There's not alot you can do against all IF spells.That's why "Tactless" is usually banned from tournies,and the BOH should be.
If he insists on taking the BOH and hiding in the second rank,you have to throw everything you have at that unit..while redirecting his support.Try to kill him with a feedback scroll.
Barring that..your probably just screwed :grave:

WOW the second HE (my friend too) who says teclis and BOH are overpowerd!!

No, he began playing watching me playing.. so I have played for a longer time (1-2 months)..

Morris engines the area effects on these things take care of a lot of things ie eagles

Try to keep the Eagles busy early game. You'll want the Engine to be powered up proper (so around Turn 3). Hopefully there isn't anything too tempting for Eagles back there that will make them b-line straight for it.
