Hey all. Can someone suggest a simple design I can use for my wight king bsb?

I'm not the greatest at free hand yet so wouldn't mind trying something simple.

My colour scheme for my army is black red with a splash of blue or dark green depending on the unit.

Oh and yes the banner is huge. I made it with green stuff :D

I'm terrible at free hand, but I went for a banner like the banner of blood keep.
A full moon in the back ground with a castle in the foreground just done in black. I think with some bats circling around.
Surprisingly easy, I haven't got a picture as I'm not at home, but il try and post one for you if I get time.

That's a hell of a banner mate haha I looked up online Skull drawings and found some that i might try to trace onto my army standard but other than that Not sure what else you could try.

I don't know whatyou're looking for but this is what I did with my grave guard banner

I apologise for the blurry camera and unfinished model (Still gotta rust, blood and apply the 3 washes I use but its the banner that's important) I hope this gives you some ideas.

Thats a cool BSB! I'd suggest maybe a sword painted vertically pointing down and going through a skull or maybe even a skeletal dragon's head breathing ethereal fire (Google 'sindragosa). They sound complex but would look sweet. There's also that option of doing stuff coming to life out of the banner like a few guys have pulled off well here (@Dibidoolandas and @Hutobega )

Looking at all that space, I think a dead tree (using your red colors scheme), with a full moon (Maybe done in blue?) in the background and a few dark green bats flying around could look quite nice. Actually sounds kinda hard, now that I think about it

A suggestion, what is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think about your army as a whole? What is the 'theme' (if any) you've chosen for them? How do you think about vampires/undead?

My original concept was that this was an army mainly consisting of Bretonnians from some old battlefield. I originally planned to have a big Fleur de Lis on the banner covered in blood but I've tried to draw it a few times on paper and can never get a good effect. It always looked badly painted

I don't know about tracing a design but you shouldn't be too harsh on yourself when it comes to free hand painting banners.
It certainly takes quite a few tries to get it done the way you want it but the trick is to not give up :)

A good way is, to prime the banner black, and then outline the motives you want with thinned white or bright gray (grey? gray?). When the outlines are done (they are easily to correct when you are not happy with a motive, just paint black above 'em), fill the objects slowly with layers of the paint you wanna reach. That way I painted my blood keep banner, which is completely selfmade, like yours ;)

"British English" is just "English", thanks very much!

If you want to "trace" a design you could...

- print the design on paper and stick it onto the banner - blend in the edges with LGS and then paint over the top of it

- print the design on paper, hold it over the banner and mark key points through the paper with a pen / pencil / pin

- freehand draw the design onto the standard with a pencil before painting

- print the design on waterslide transfer (decal) paper, and apply it that way, either as an outline to paint over or the finished design.

I've done all of those at one time or another
