This thread is for voting on the Special Choice - The Black Riders of Nagash and also the Army special rule - Nagashi

Please note: This is not to vote whether they fit in with the theme etc. That is what the discussion in the threads is for.

It is to check and ensure we have created fair rules that are not unbalancing, or there is not something grossly wrong that has been over looked.

This Poll will close on 31/05/09

Black Riders of Nagash

Riding ahead of the vast undead hosts of Nagash, these human followers of the Dark Lord spread fear and confusion to those that would oppose them

Shrunken Heads
Theses terrible weapons are the shrunken heads of those that fight the Dark Lord's plans. Though not powerful, the fear and horror they create can be just as effective
Thrown Weapon. 8” range. 2x shots. Str2 and causes panic check when they wound.

Special Rules
Nagashi
Fast Cavalry

Nagashi Special Rule (This will apply to all units with the Nagashi Special Rule)
Though they can feel fear like normal men, years spent with the living dead as inured them to their presence. Trained from birth to follow their long dead overlords, their fanaticism knows no bounds.
Any unit with the Nagashi rule are alive and do not benefit from the Undead rule. However they are not affected by Fear that is caused by the Undead special rule.
Whilst the army general is alive they also benefit from the stubborn rule, however should the general die all Nagashi units loose the stubborn rule and must also take a panic check. If failed they must flee towards the nearest table edge. This may mean the unit flees combat in which case the enemy units may pursue or hold as normal.

Everything's good, the Nagashi rule is fluffy, except it's too expensive. They're flail-equipped Marauder Horsemen with lower WS. 14 points is what you should be looking at.

S2 makes it a bit too hard to even sucessfully wound IMO, never mind causing any Panic checks. S3 would make the Heads much more worth using, a small points cost increase if need be.

Just had a look at the Marauder horseman entry, and yeah 14 seems ok for these.

I think that they should be about 16-17 points.

recent comparaison:
Marauder Horseman are 15 pts each when you add in Flails. They have reroll pursuit distance (how often does that really matter).

Yours have 1 less WS (well, they are only human after all). But, they also have 1 more Ld (which is Stubborn while the General is alive). As well as immunity to Undead Fear.

older comparaison:
Mtd Yeomen are 15 pts each with bow/spear (should be same point cost as Flails). Peasant's Duty.

Yours have 1 more Ld then the peasants and are Stubborn while the General is alive. As well as immunity to Undead Fear.

But we also need to remember that points need to be looked at in context of the Army Type and Composition. Considering these are special choices, in an army that the actual undead units have more synergy, especially with the magic side, I think the points are fine.

Stubborn Ld 8 is VERY good. And I think its too cheap because of that. If you dropped the Ld down to 7 it'd seem a lot more in line with the point cost you want to use.

Mtd Yeoman are also a Special (btw).

Battle Pilgrims (Rare) have sub-human stats (4/2/2/3/3/1/3/1/8) with Ld 8 (stubborn), and they are 9 pts a model on foot with hw/shield.

Hmm... Just browsing through, I like the idea :)
They seem balanced to me, they're like one hit wonders for light infantry. Shame they'll probably get squished the second turn if they're close enough to head-spook the enemy, but moaners can't be choosers! (Thats why I have a great selection at the graveyard ;))
I'd give them the option to have light armour, I likes my armour

Why are they I4? It seems pretty fast for a bunch of dusty bone polishers :P
Also, would they be riding live or dead horses?
