@Mad'at

Is Katharina Oberholtzer a merc/unofficial/ freelance witchhunter?
Just curious although I don't think the Templars of Sigmar accept women.

Ofc freelancers could still be skilled

Just asking out of personal interest.

In recent years (of the warhammer setting (post mordheim)) they do accept females, there just isn't a whole lot of them, and there would be a decent ammount of sexism

Cheers! I've actually been looking an answer to that one!

Alright, was sure I had messed up some lore somewhere in there, though I guess I do tend to have my backstories be very vague so that I don't mess with established lore... And I show my character better then I can just talk about him...

Also thanks for the herbs and clothing... I felt they probably would be items, but they were also kind of a part of the amber wizard character... almost as much as the staff... And I like the third dash for the third item that only cool people can see. Its an amazing item.

Edit: realized that I forgot to put in Edor's beard... Cause an amber wizard has to have a beard... Though that is totally not the third secret item... Totally not it...

That is the third item!

nah, that's an accident. I had created the extra point but then couldn't think of anything you need/ would have

Yeah, I kinda figured that. So if you really want him to have three items you could probably either put his small collection of animal totems... or you could definitely put his beard... its an impressive beard... The dwarven women swoon when he ends up on those mountains, so he tends to avoid that area of the world.

... I am using that emoticon too much... but I'm not sure what else would fit... oh well...

OK! I actually have some time to comment on the recent characters, sorry about my lateness.

Count Michael, drop the number of bolts the crossbow can load to three and then everything will be fine with the character. Silver bolts however, won't be in your possession as they are incredibly rare tools which only people in the right sort of jobs can get.

Mad 'At, All good on the mechanics front. Just the final comment of losing the whole retinue seems a little off. If it's there so you don't have a band following you, a witch hunter of two years would probably not have any permanent followers anyway, especially one who considers themselves to be a loner ;)

Kavok, very nice. I've no issues here.

Assuming that you make the changes then you guys will receive the same package of stuff the others got in addition to each of you individually receiving the following

Count Michael
-Shashka

-Warm Kossar clothing

-Light armour

-30 Crossbow bolts

Mad 'At
-Witch Hunters Hat and coat
Not just a symbol of office, these items of clothing provide decent protection

-Two vials of holy water blessed by the priests of Sigmar

-Powder Horn, 20 standard shots and 5 silver shots.

-Rapier
the favoured weapon of witch hunters

Kavok
-Pouch of common healing herbs

-Warm clothing
The hides and furs of animals serve to keep you warm in winter

-Impressive Beard

Since my character is not mentioned does that mean I can't play? :(

Ok, Wolfen, could I ask you to tone down your character a bit? Given the inclusions in our party, a master thief like you have described is a little over the top. Take a look at some of the other characters to get an idea of where you should be at.
Also, the untrustworthy weakness is a direct contradiction of your ability to convince people with your silver tongue so you might want to change that to something else.

Once you've made those changes everything is fine, and i'll give you and black baron (whom i seemingly also forgot to give items to) your items probably tomorrow, but definitely before we start.

Edit complete. Is it toned down enough?

I flashed out melody's history a bit but no major changes. Items are perfect. Can't wait to hit people with my umbrella even if i have a stiletto

Mad 'At, yeah, if you wish to record them on your profile feel free to, they just need to be in a place where you and the others can see them.

And thanks for the changes Wolfen, it's perfect now, especially the weakness, very fitting

A random note to people with pistols too. Do remember that you have a very limited amount of shots and unlike arrows you cant effectively recover bullets O_O

Changed my crossbow to your liking who needs silver when I can just club most things to death with it, does the Kossar clothing include one of those awesome and funny Russian like hats

Yes. you do have one of them hats

Black Baron, I just noticed you only have two strengths, you can select a third if you like.

Final lot of items for those who don't have them.

Black Baron
Seeing as you already have a hatchet and a skinning knife as well as your bow for your 'item' ( :mad2: ) can have those two and you shall receive from me
-quiver with 10 straight arrows, 10 barbed arrows and 10 broad headed arrows

Wolfen
-concealable dagger

-set of thieves tools
useful for picking locks or manipulating trap mechanisms

-minor disguise kit
has enough dye, fake hair and material to put on a convincing change of face once, but little more.

If no objection I will also jump in.

Name: Castellan Vandire Heinman

Character:

Height: 6.4
Age: 37
Build: Muscular/ Bulky (the kind of muscle you gain from hard toil, not show muscles)
Hair Colour: Red
Skin: Pale
Eye Colour: Green

Facial Appearance: A rough kind of face bearing the weight of years of hard living, a disaproving frown given to the mouth and a nose that has been broken more than a few times to many, a single scar runs from beside the left eye all the way down to the jaw, the beginnings of a rough stubble coating his chin.

Personality: Staunch fast and relentless Vandire prides himself upon the founding principles of the Knightly order of The Crimson Dove, due to recent evens in the war however they find their order numbering now less than two dozen where before they were neigh on four hundred.
This loss has ate a hole in his heart and were once a firm but kind man stood now stands one hungry for vengeance, of the old only a shadow remains, but remains it does, possessing a tactical mind he was never the greatest in social situations, though he has not been able to rest easy since the war began he harbors the hope that once his task is over he will be able to live with the choices he has made.

Background: Born in Bretonia though raised in the Empire, his farther left him in the care of the Marshal of the order as many children are, it was not the kind of life he would of chosen for himself at the age of 5 but his mother had died during child birth and his farther wanted a better life for him than the Peasants life he was sure to get in Bretonia.
Having been little more than a servant until his teen years cleaning, fetching, tending the fields he knew what hard work was, when he did reach his teen years however he enjoyed playing games with wooden swords with the other children that could be found in the lands outside the orders keep.
His size and strength ensuring he won most of his "bouts" with the local's offspring he was eventually noticed by a chance Knight of the order by the man of "Lazarus", at his insistence he was trained in the arts of fighting both with a sword and from horseback, as the years went by he learned other things as well, how to read and math so that merchants could not cheat him when he was tasked to go barter for the horses feed, after nearly a decade of training he finally earned his own spurs.

Years went by and he was sent on this task and that, wars were fought, battles here and there side by side with the brothers of his order he never felt alone, always a smile on his face though it was never a pretty one, he loved his family that much, outside in the real world however amongst the common people he was lost, he did not know them or indeed how to act with them, the only experiences he had were as a child and the odd merchant and that is scarce preparation for life, due to this he came across a gruff and socially awkward to those that did not know him but for all that he did not care.
One year when up in the north fighting against the forces of chaos with his county men, his dear friend "Lazarus" was lost, torn from his mount by a troll his bones snapped as his armour crumpled beneath its grip, part of Vandire died that day but he never forgot the man who was the closest thing he had to a father those past twenty years.

Driven on he worked ever harder in the order, learning tactics in the field and bringing one swift victory after another with his dogged determination and keen foresight for predicting the enemy saw him rise steadily through the ranks till he found himself one day at the right hand of the Marshal himself.
Having Barely served in his new capacity a year when the vampire threat loomed again the Order head to war to protect the Empire.
The fighting was fierce and were as the enemy were poorly led they never tired like they did, after every charge more horses were dragged down and their armoured riders set upon helpless on the round unable to stand or fight themselves free from the weight of numbers.
The order had set out with More than Three Hundred and Eighty Knights, It came back with Twenty Seven, Eight of those so badly injured they would never see service again.
Amongst these wounded lay the Marshal, he would live and from the fire burning in his eyes you could tell at a glance he would see the order rebuilt into its former majesty however the loss of so many Brothers Weighed heavily on both their hearts, Tasked By the Marshal to seek Vengeance against the one who had crippled him Vandire set forth to scour the abomination responsible from the land.
Little did he know however he was not tasked with killing the beast Who had almost killed the Marshal but was instead sent with the hope that in slaying the beast would some how allow him to silence the now ever constant one in his heart before it drove him unto his destruction.

Occupation: Castellan of The Crimson Dove (Before The White of Peace comes The Red of War)

Item: Rune Forged Long Sword "Lustmord", The Badge of office of the Castellan of the order, the sword itself is razor sharp never dulling due to experience of the master who forged it.
Engraved With the Seal of the order it is said to Glow an Angry red when the blood of its wielder is roused to anger and violence plays on the edge of his mind. (A very minor trait which does nothing more than add a little depth, can be removed if thought unsuitable to have a mood ring sword.) ;)

Strengths:

Knight: Having been trained to be a knight Vandire is intermediate with nearly all close combat weapons but shuns ranged weapons, a expert at maintaining and repairing his own armour and equipment as to be expect as he his with his training to fight whilst in and out of armour being able to fight for extended periods without tiring as a normal man would.
Well versed in the arts of riding and fighting from horse back he is as equal a danger is not more so than he is whilst on foot.

Expert Swordsman: An expert with any sword though especially with "Lustmord" he is to be considered the equal of some of the best blades in the land but is by no means the best but for that he makes up for with his tenacity.

Castellan: A battle field tactician, able to quickly analyze any given situation and decide on a decisive course of action based off his mens abilities on both a large a grand scale, with this however also come the more humdrum affairs of book keeping and organization that is required with any major body of men and handling of large sums of gear and food.

Weaknesses:

Single Mindedness: A watchword for his order the men are notorious for pursuing all things to the very end, this however can get them into unfavorable and dangerous situations as they ignore all else to the exclusion of the task which holds their full attention.

Blinding Rage: Due to recent events Vandires rage is like a cadged beast within, knawing at his very bones which forms the bars of its prison.
As such he can be prone to bouts of incandescent rage when gaulded into it.

Ok Danse, the character is fine. You can keep a dull glow in the sword, however I'd like you to tone down the razor-sharpness/lightness/never dulling a bit.

I'll give you your items later, but expect armour, a horse and maybe some other stuff.

The action has begun! For those who have signed up, head over to the action thread and get in on the fun. The example of play thread is also up, but the example there is for heated moments, of which this is not so while you need to read it, you don't quite need to worry about it's contents just yet.

As for those who are still interested in joining in, if you wish to create and submit a character, we might be able to find a way to squeeze you in, however I'll make no promises and I'll have to put your character under a little more scrutiny than the others (simply to make sure there is a reason for you to be there in the first place).

If we can't figure out a way for you to join in the fun, or perhaps you simply don't want to, we'd still love for you to follow us along and join in the fun of the OOC thread!

No problem mate, I removed its light weight but left the Sharpness if that is ok, I used to play an old cleric in a Dark Heresy Campaign once with a sword and I got bloody sick of sharpening the damn thing by the end of the campaign, did come in bloody useful though, 5 Crits in a row followed by a 7, sharpening it paid off. :perv:

Name: Konrad Daidin

Character:

Height: 6.7
Age: 27
Build: Lean and muscular
Hair Colour: dark brown
Skin: Pale
Eye Colour: Green

Personality: Dour, grim and quiet, Konrad fit's the public's perception of a priest of Morr remarkably well, if a touch younger, larger and less cadaverous. He has a burning, though quiet and undemonstrative faith in his cause, and is sometimes prey to black passions, either a sort of grim anger, or black depression.

Background:
Morr is the guardian of the souls of the dead. He presides over the realm of death, called the Shadowrealm, and is also known as the Guardian of Dreams.

Although priests of Morr are found throughout the Old World wherever there are dead to be taken care of, his is not a religion which is practiced widely, and warrior brotherhoods are rare. For the most part, while the sanctity of the dead is taken very seriously by the priesthood, dealing with graverobbers and the unquiet dead is left to their militant spiritual brethren, the (imaginatively named) Knights of Morr, and The Black Guard Templars. However, on the borders of Sylvania, they can be found in numbers, wandering men dressed in the plain black robes of their faith, carrying a book in which to record the names of the dead, who insure the souls of those who have died safe passage and, more importantly, that the dead remain as such.

Konrad Daidin grew up in Siegfriedhof, which is situated near the border to Sylvania in Stirland. His father was a smuggler by any other name of some success, who had made his fortune importing fine fabrics and other luxury items into the poorer parts of the Empire, where they were in high demand among petty nobles and old money. As a consequence to his well-traveled father, Konrad, the third son, was given a remarkably cosmopolitan upbringing, and provided with an education. Because the boy was different.

He was dark, as his mother had been, and pale of flesh as was usual for that part of the world, with a lean, brawny frame that promised to be as broad as a cypress when he came to maturity. He was close-mouthed and serious-minded, kept his own counsel and minded his own affairs, and never knew that he wanted a friend. He began to have dreams at a young age, walking alone in an empty realm of dark sand, with strange stars and ancient cyclopean monuments visible in the distance.

It was not until he was taken to a temple, that the dreams were recognized for what they were.

His father had some wealth and property, however, as the third son he would have little in the way of inheritance, so the priesthood was the logical place to send him. And so in time he joined the priesthood of Morr. As studious and serious-minded as he was, he would have made a fine academic, cloistered away in a temple translating the book of Morr and taking careful recordings of dreams.

It is also where he met Father Arlan, who became a something of a surrogate father figure, and whose humble optimism made a positive impression on Konrad, though it never rubbed off on him. However, it also gave him the opportunity to travel, visiting towns and villages without the benefit of a temple in order to perform the necessary rituals and rites upon the deceased. For a time, this satisfied his natural wanderlust, and it would likely have continued until his bestowal as a father and recallment to the temple, were it not for the gruesome circumstances of Father Arlan's death, his first encounter with the profane risen dead, and the meeting of witchfinder Esmer Bachenstern.

Necromancers are evil sorcerers who devote themselves to the practice of Necromancy, one of the most despicable forms of Dark Magic, utilizing the wind Shyish Necromancers may commune with the spirits of the dead, and even raise the dead from their graves, as puppets bound to their will. Because of the detestable nature of their practice, few men are hated and feared more than are Necromancers, and so they rarely inhabit civilized areas openly practicing, except in the most decadent or lawless regions of the Old World.

However, wizards are still men, and can be foolish or arrogant, and Deiter Scheisskopf was greedier then was sensible. Having murdered a burgomeister, he intended to use his profane mastery to uncover the location of his wealth, and killed Father Arlan to prevent the priest from consecrating the corpse with the nameless rite. He was successful in his murders, but he failed to profit, and Esmer had him burned in short order, but something awoke in Konrad, and when the Witch-hunter departed, Konrad had joined his retinue.

He first saw combat in battle as part of the local peasant levies, part of Baron Gauserkov's forces. His support was invaluable, and in the push into Sylvania he did not withdraw with the rest of the army. Instead he took to wandering around the countryside, a traveling pilgrim, providing succor for the bereaved, and when a fell wind blows from the South West, and the unquiet dead stir in their tombs, Konrad intends to give them peace.

Occupation: Wandering priest, occasional pilgrim, and provisional auxiliary military support (i.e unofficial army chaplin).

Item: Battleaxe, his chosen weapon, reminiscent of an executioners tool of trade. Kept in good condition, blessed and treated in holy water, it is perfect for dealing with undead, though slow and somewhat clumsy.
A silver raven, the holy symbol of his order, and a book for noting the names of the dead. Carries no money, for it's terribly bad luck to refuse hospitality to a priest of Morr, so wherever there is civilization he can find a roof over his head without too much trouble.

Strengths:

Strength: Unusually for a man of the cloth (outside the warrior brotherhoods) Konrad is particularly physically powerful. While not particularly skillful given his lack of formal martial training, he has some talent as a brawler, and in armed combat his height, reach, stamina and great strength are all the advantages he needs except against unusually gifted foes. A detailed knowledge of anatomy helps as well.

Funerary Rites: Konrad is a priest of Morr, and has been taught the prayers, rites and ceremonies therin. As a consequence, he is particularly dangerous to the unquiet dead, knowing rites for banishment and appeasement. These powers are not useful against the intelligent, self aware dead (that's what his axe is for).

Well-traveled: Konrad has roamed the length and breadth of Stirland, as well as some of the surrounding provinces, and is remarkably well-informed as a consequence. He speaks a few local dialects, and knows quite a bit about the landscape.

Weaknesses:

Crippling over-specialization Konrad has little care for things outside the concern of his order, to whit, the concerns of the dead. Moreover, he's next to useless outside his area of expertise.

Solitude: Konrad is aggressively self-dependent to the point of bloody-mindedness, which makes him nigh-on approachable except in a professional capacity. He is naturally insular, and reluctant to trust other people. As a consequence, he is difficult to work with, or approach. This is partly shyness, and partly the fact that few people care to spend any length of time in the company of a Priest of Morr - even when it is their duty to do so.
