While I was surfing on all kinds of warhammer forums, I came to the daemonic legion forum. There will be a new book for the daemons soon, so I searched for their rumour thread and found it. Excited as I was, wanting to know what they will be capable of I started reading. It looked nice and decent until I came to this one sentence and I was blown out of my shoes:
Nr 4 of the Slaanesh spells:
“#4 Slicing Shards of Slaanesh: Cast on 7+. Magic Missile, range 24”. Deals D6 S5 hits. Target must then take a Ld test. If they pass the spell ends, if failed they take another D6 Strength 5 hits. Continues until unit passes a Ld test.” (from Confirmed Daemonic Rumours "Roundup") :|

Imagine you have a core of zombies/skellies with Ld 3/2, he gets this spell off on one of those units. The spell continues to nuke down your whole unit because it’s almost impossible to past that Ld test. Ok, vamps have high Ld but you will have to a) keep your general with your main line (so no fast mounted vamp lords) or b) have a vamp in each unit!!

Not only the core of the army can be wiped out easily: Black knights (Ld 6), which normally should operate without a vamp, will have to be baby-sit; our dear wraiths (Ld 5), which also operate at our flanks and so could easily be outside the generals radius, need to be watched carefully.

Don’t get me wrong I’m not whining at all, I just find the spell somewhat different as we normally don’t have to test for Ld (except when the general dies).
So what do you fellow vampires think of this spell from the Prince of Pain and Pleasure?

We'll just raise the lost back up :P

Okay it's a juicy spell, but nowhere as nasty as our own Danse Macabre.

Seriously, there are other things about the new Daemon army book that worries me far more than this spell. I don't think VC will get any trouble though; probably just some sport ;)

A confirmed rumour is oxymoronic...

While it may be an oxymoron, it is still entirely correct and does indeed exist (along with several other rather nasty spells I might add), so I'd suggest sheltering those lone varghulf from it's attention with their measly ld 4.

Stack this with Phantasmagoria (the last slaanesh spell, until your next magic phase all enemy ld tests are taken on 3 dice, removing the lowest) and the Pavane of Slaanesh (character takes a Ld test of suffers D6 wounds with no armour save) and then you've suddenly got an annoyingly efficient method of dealing with vampire tarpits:devil:

(I don't know how many people here have played against Slaanesh in 40k with Lash of Submission).

I play EC but I never use the Lash because in my humble opinion it's pure cheese.
I'm not surprised with this latest development but just a bit annoyed that Undead or any Immune to Psychology units would also be affected by this spell.

is it definately the case that ItP doesn't stop this from working?

generally Slaanesh is pychology based and certainly it would make more sense that if a unit is immune to psych it would also be immune to psych based spells.

of course that doesn't account for oversights...

Yes, there is absolutely no mention of it not working on ITP (or any other) units, thus it works on anything you can throw it at
