It's an early Christmas in the house of P. I got the bulk of my packages today.

Army

I'm not sure what to start on, but I am leaning towards either my mounted vampire lord conversion or the chariot of the harvester. I will update when I get some work done.

RE: The house of P - Modeling and Painting Log (10-28-08)

Here is the model I will be using as my mounted Vampire Lord.

Holbein

I think the first thing I will do is make a new weapon for him, the one he is holding isn't fitting for a Vampire Lord.

RE: The house of P - Modeling and Painting Log (10-28-08)

it could work use a file to make some notches in it like i did for my bk one i like how it looks yes it could be a little longer but all in all it looks okay...but thats just me after all its your model you will be playimng it not I =P

RE: The house of P - Modeling and Painting Log (10-28-08)

Hell Dorado, they make some really nice models but they are a little hard to find. A good site to buy from is fantization. The owner told me they are the only US site that sells the line.

RE: The house of P - Modeling and Painting Log (10-28-08)

It's nothing special, just a site I'm working on, its my own personal studio. It'll have tutorials and junk.

RE: The house of P - Modeling and Painting Log (10-28-08)

Nice. I've also been thinking about using Von Holbein as my vamp, but I haven't found any retailers that speeks anything else than french ...
So I can't wait till you've painted yours.

Ended up scrapping the sword I was working on, I'm going to start from scratch tomorrow.

RE: The house of P - Modeling and Painting Log (10-28-08)

Chariot of the Harvester.

Here is a picture of everything it comes with.
Chariot of the Harvester

I would have worked on this first but I currently don't have a spare chariot base, I need to buy some. But with how much this sword is frustrating me I may end up switching to another model for the time being.

RE: The house of P - Modeling and Painting Log (10-28-08)

The only think about that model your using as your vampire, is that it doesn't actually look very "vampirey" (yes it is a word.......I'm English............we invented the language....don't argue!).

If your having trouble with the sword, it sometimes does help to switch to another model, and then come back with a fresh perspective. Though I could simply be biased as I really want to see the harvester put together and painted.

RE: The house of P - Modeling and Painting Log (10-28-08)

Yeah, I agree with you DoN. I had some pretty elaborate plans for Holbein. I even bought another model just for a head swap. As soon as I get my chariot base I will get to work on the chariot of the harvester. ATM I took a break from modeling and I'm working on some test models for my vampire skin tone. So far the perfect skin tone is proving elusive. What recipes do you guys use for your vampire skin tones?

shouldn't that possibly be "vampiric"? defined as: "Having the traits of a vampire" :P

@: Very interesting point.

@Pureblood: The early christmas thing, is that kind of like daylight savings time? Either way I like the models. I am glad your changing the sword, it looks a little too bland and wouldn't seem menacing enough for my own blood. What will the new head look like? Will it be coverless to allow the individual to see the face?

I'm just glad to see another great start to an awesome VC army. Keep the pictures and paint job coming.

RE: The house of P - Modeling and Painting Log (10-28-08)

@Dictator: I bought a model just for the head. This is the model I got, I will be using the head on the left. My Vampire Lord won't be wearing a helm. I want to keep the helm somewhere on the model, I am considering having a zombie squire on the base carrying his helm, it will be modified to look like a blood knight helm.

Vampire Head

As for the sword, after two attempts I have completely given up trying to do a 100% sword sculpt. For the third attempt I decided to start with an existing sword for the base and work around it instead. Here is an early WIP of the sword just before I start on the Procreate and Kneadatite.

Sword WIP 1

A cookie for anyone who can guess which famous sword I am trying to emulate.

RE: The house of P - Modeling and Painting Log (10-28-08)

that sword looks awesome so far... give tutorial for it ;)
damn.. ;)

RE: The house of P - Modeling and Painting Log (10-31-08)

Amen to the awesomeness of that sword. The hair on the vampire is very good. I'm glad you are changing the head. The new one really has a great quality to it too. Feels more evil unleashed. You are pretty lucky too that the hair is blowing in the same direction as the cape on the vampire.

I can't wait to see it all come together.

I couldn't agree more...

Yeah wind direction was one of the things I was worried about, I wanted the model to still look uniform while being dynamic. I may need to turn the head just a bit. I searched for hours at multiple sites to find the perfect vampire to butcher for a head, in the end I decided on this one. Though part of me still wants to do a sculpt conversion using one of the Cadian Sgt heads.
