Because it is straying off the subject of this forum. All I will say is I learned here.

Here are my shields so far.... I am soooo bored of this.

Well it's been a hell of a week.

I had a job interview at an insurance brokers on Wednesday. I got the job and I start Monday.

I promised I would have the 3rd Skeleton unit finished by Friday. That target is looking ever so close to being missed but I will do my best. Painting of the unit should be completed on time. Movement tray, command group and static grass will have to be done over the weekend.

This is how far along the skeletons have come:

And the shields:

The top ones need the detail picked out better with fortress grey.
The bottom left are as good as they are gonna get.
The bottom right need to be retouched with the black.

The middle one is my perfect first attempt that ironically is on the back of the miniature in question.

So. Today I went, at 10am, into Manhattan to watch the FA cup final. I am not a football fan by nature but my hometown managed to reach the final and I wanted to go and watch out of a homesick nostalgia.

Pompey 1 Cardiff City 0

So I left the bar in a very good mood. Amplified by the 5 pints of cider, and full Irish breakfast (Irish bacon, house fries, black pudding, white pudding, toast, baked beans, 2 eggs and a sausage) I had consumed while watching the game. I decided to stop in at Games Workshop to treat myself to something new and shiny.

I bought my first of the new releases. A box of graveguard (I wanted a unit of 20 but they did not have enough in stock) I got this at a discounted price in payment of the maille I made for them.

I got home and began assembly.....

I am not impressed.

As great as they may look they are so out of scale with every other unit of my army that they are very nearly unusable, After building only one I lost interest and went to play with my other toys.

So. I did this:-

The great thing about these new movement tray kits is all the alternate uses you can find for them. In this case a base for my Black Coach. I have been wanting something different for my coach. Not just to keep it more in theme with my army but also just to have fun converting and making something unique.

So I took my bits box and set about planning. I have 2 black coach kits through a random turn of events that occurred back when it was first released. I cut one to bits to make a vampire counts chariot which was never actually completed.

So I took the functioning parts and added them to the model I already had:

I knew I wanted 4 horses. I knew I wanted to eradicate as much of the ridiculuos "vampire" related decoration as I could. and So I went about cutting and filing and filling.

What I had was good:

But there was something still not right, I decided that the curtains and their ridiculous tie decorations had to go. I planned to cut and file the curtains away and replace them with yellow tinted, glass, with a diamond lead pattern effect. But I have very limited tools here and I messed up. So the whole thing had to go. Curtains and frames and the roof now sits in their place:

According to my fluff the Black Coach (Which I don't even think I am going to paint black) is a vampire locked in his coffin and bound with magic. Once the mortal enemy of my Vampire lord, death was deemed to be an unfitting end. So he was given the blood kiss and sealed within this mobile tomb. The mad rage of the unliving inhabitant powers the coach onwards. The vampires starved blood lust drives friendly units and pushes them onwards. The unrelenting screams from within causing terror in the hearts of all who would stand against it.

I did a lot of work on the rigging. I think what I came up with looks rather impressive.

I think the outcome is pretty cool. Maybe someday I will get the urge to revisit this and scratch build a new top portion for the coach. For now though I just want to get it painted and into my army.

Impressive army to say the least, a nice personal touch with the shields as well. That coach is sexy as well. Looking forwards to seeing more!

Cheers

:| speechless

I'm amazed at how much you have done in so little time while still having such lovely conversions. Damm your Badass Talents! You did make me ashamed of my VCs

Probably the best Painting Log on CN, very few (if any) can come close to this level of, for lack of a better word, greatness.
Well done

OK.

I realize that I have shirked my responsibilities this week with regards to picture uploading.

But real life has intervened and I have simply had very little time for painting.

Also as previously mentioned a million times, getting pictures from camera to computer is quite a hardship.

I painted all the metallics on my coach and painted the bases of my axe-men (which are still not completed). I finished their movement tray with all but static grass.

Not sure when I will actually get picture updates up. Soon though I promise.

My new job has just been taking up all my time.

I wouldn't worry too much, we're only asking for more because we like what we see, hunting you down and killing you for not doing updates would be somewhat counter-productive... (although with the right Invocation you could make an excellent brush zombie ;) ).

I hope the new work aside from being hectic also manages to be fun/lucrative/interesting/(insert benefit here)?

I am looking forwards to seeing how your Black Coach ends up, I find the original to look too comical for my tastes. By cutting it down and adding the rather macabre back story I actually think yours can fit in serious VC army.

Updates I'm afraid are a little lame. I worked tirelessly on my axe men yesterday including the command.

Updates on the coach will have to wait I am afraid. It looks a little messy at the moment. Note to self. Don't paint in poor light. Stupid thunder clouds.

I am particularly happy with my champion. (Some of my best pupil work ever.... Some of my only pupil work ever)

So after seeing what a good skeletal steed is supposed to look like while painting my Black Coach I finally have the urge to add some cavalry to my army.

I have built a rough concept to get a feel for what I want to do, but it is too late to upload a new picture. So I promise that tomorrow after work I will show you what I have so far.

Till then here is an olde pic (I know some have already seen this though I don't remember where I posted it) which gives away a small taste of what I am trying to achieve:
