I think the end result for the steed looks really nice, the only thing that looks a bit weird to me is the neck. Maybe some barding on that too?

And why didn't you keep the saddle for the horse? Just curious. :)

Yes the legs are too close together to allow the empire saddle. They were designed to sit on skeletal steeds. Also the wights already have saddles sculpted to their arses. I am planning on doing more to the necks and heads.

Just having trouble deciding what. Any ideas? I am going to add reigns.

My green stuff sculpting has inconsistent results so I don't really want to have to sculpt too much.

I think the Black Knight looks great. The combination of skeleton and armour worked very well. I was wondering: did you have to pin anything or did you have a multi-arm and clamp tool to glue everything?

um???? HUh????? Wha????

Clamp? multi arm ?

pin ?

Glue?

No.

No clamps, no pins, no need. The horse was cut from the armour of an empire horse. Then looped over the head and stuck on the back side of the skeletal horse. Poly cement sticks and holds after a second. Plastic to plastic, light components, you don't need anything more advanced than glue and your fingers.

:| wow those spirit hosts are looking very well! How did you get that look?

Oh so very easily.
Chaos black undercoat:

Roughly paint the top half of the model Codex grey and drybrush the bottom:
ai97.photobucket.com_albums_l233_SethDrallitoc_Miniatures_DSCF3887.webp

Then about a third of the way up paint entirely Fortress Grey then drybrush below it but not to the base: *(Sorry about the blur)
ai97.photobucket.com_albums_l233_SethDrallitoc_Miniatures_DSCF3888.webp

then paint the head and shoulds Skull white drybrushing a little below the shoulders:

Till you have this:

Then of course all you have to do is slap on the wonderfullness that is Thraka Green Wash.
and Bam! :

THE END.

Great look. I do like the extra armor added to the head of the Black Knight steed. Gotta say it sounds VERY easy if you just cut out the armor and then just place it on top of the steed.

The hosts look awesome like everyone else has said. The real lighting really adds a lot to the models. It makes them look great.

Fantastic Spirit Hosts, especially given the reasonably simple method. I've just painted mine, and wasn't happy, then I saw this :| mine really pale by comparison.
If I do choose to redo them after I finish the rest of the army I will be using a variant of the method you've used.

Any chance of a picture of your legion as it stands, you seem to have made a lot of progress since you posted your initial army photo, and I would love to see how it looks now.

Again, great work, and thank you for sharing it all.

Nice, nice, very nice Spirit Hosts, SethDrallitoc. I will have to use your method sometime myself. Even if I may use a more concentrated wash, looking forward to seeing more progress in your log, keep up the good work.

Stunning Spirit Hosts. I wasn't going to bother doing any for my new VC army, because I'm not sure they serve a useful purpose in the list anymore, but those have convinced me to do some regardless.

Lovely stuff.

I think with how fanatastic those hosts have turned out (and yes, I too will be pinching your idea!) I think it would be an excellent article to put in the upcoming VC E-zine if you are ok with this?

@Fluffy, what do you think?
