So I'm almost finished painting my Dwarf Army, so I've been flirting with the idea of a Vampire Counts army. I was think of making it a heavily converted themed army, right now I'm leaning towards Brettonian theme, but, I'll probably make pretty heavy use of infantry, so I was hoping to pick some brains for ideas. Any ideas for themes?

I like the theme of an ancient Necrarch who hangs around with 30 Ghouls. He's also come across this lovely Helm, and has a mate who carries the flag of Drakenhof. It's a very inventive theme, one that hudnreds of VC players enjoy :)

That's what I was going for, a Vampire Duke army (the Mousillion theme). As an Alternate I had considered an undead Ogre army, but, buying 60 Ogre Bulls to convert into zombies is a tad expensive, plus I still haven't figured out how to get them on the smaller bases without putting them in ballet poses.

The theme for my army is about the Ordo Equestris Draconis an order of ancient blooddragon vampires. It will include a lord on dragon (Captain of the order) and Knights Draconis (blood knights). The knights will be riding some sort of half dragons/Fire lizards like beasts and the orders base of operations is on the slope of a sleeping volcano.

I have a very heavily Brettonian themed army, although it may not seem like it due to the fact that most of my Vampires are Chaos Warriors. Much of the cavalry of my force (whether it be wicked wight or vampiric knight...ha ha, it rhymes!) uses Brettonian models. Basically I find every model I like and find a fluffy way to include it in my army. For example, my Vampire lord (Vekarin) took his armor from a Chaos Lord of Tzeentch as a trophy after a massive battle (so I could use the Archaon Miniature). Many of his lieutenants hail also from that Chaos Lord's army (so I can use Chaos Warriors). Furthermore, many of the Wight cavalry in his army hail originally from older orders of Brettonian knights (so I can use Brettonians). You see the pattern?

Personally I am beginning a Sylvanian themed Vampire Counts Army, if you are interested in beginning to create a Brettonian Mousillion Force then I would suggest that you pick up the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay Supplement Book: Barony of the Damned as it heavily focuses upon this area and is quiet a good read in it self and would be able to provide you with much inspiration, if you are looking for any information in particular feel free to ask as I have a copy of the book and will try to explain as much as I can to you. :)

How about a bunch of greenskin undead? Goblin Zombies are easy enough, and unless I miss my guess, there is a Dogs of War greenskin skelly unit. If you get some goblin wolfriders, you get zombies and dire wolves in one box!

I just like the idea of vampire oks. Colour me weird.

I've seen pics of an undead gobbo force, it looks excellent! Pretty much any army can be converted in undead so whatever takes your fancy, the skellie and zombie kits mix well with others so its quite easy. I vote for the gobbo force as we already have two bret ones going on.
