The title had to be done sorry. I was thinking up a rather diabolical scheme involving my vampire counts... seemingly an eveyday occurance. Anyways to the point.

Run a coven throne as normal with a vampire or vampire lord etc...
Run a Corpse Cart with a necromancer on it (either 1 or 2)
Give the lord lore of shadows
Lore attribute for lore of shadows = The cashting wizard can choose to immediately swap places with a friendly character of the same troope type anywhere within 18."

That is correct folks you have a teleporting coven throne  Oh were you about to flank charge me or kill me? :innocent: Not anymore as the poor necro gets thrown under the bus:grave:.

This can also work if you send your coven throne along the main battle line and take the corpse cart to a flank and you can completely switch combats if you deem it necessary. Whatya all think?

Seems really pricey. After all, your general has to take Lore of Vamps, meaning you'd be spending a lot of points on just a thrall vampire for this, or you'd be spending even more points to have a second lord if you put a lord on this.
It just doesn't seem worth its points. Would be fun to see in action, but i couldn't see myself ever taking it.

Problem I see with the run a corpse cart along a flank is that it is probably the slowest unit in the game. I wouldn't base any plans on this but it is something to keep in mind

If your general is on the coven throne then you have 18" radius command presence anyways so hardly an issue.

Does the vampire on the throne and the necro on the cart counts as chariots? Is that why you need the cart?

That doesn't increase the march bubble!

You are correct. Glad that was pointed out before I tried it that way. :zombie:

Currently thinking up options for a hero coven throne. Cant decide what wargear to take with him though.

Well the idea of a teleporting chariot is genius....absolute genius :D.

Could work if you have a very delicate maneuvering game. Other than that....its mostly for shock factor.
It just seems like an expensive gimmick for the actual gain it could provide you. Corpse carts are mostly shot, as is the throne so the idea of changing out with a corpse cart seems kinda void.

Enemies: "Fire"
*Throne disappears and reappears 5 metres to the left"
Enemies: "O no he didnt...."

SO has anyone else noticed how easy it is to win with the Vamps now? I went up against a 3000 point Lizardman army, only had 3 vamps, Heinrich and a necromancer as my hero choices. My Hexwraiths killed the engine of the gods in the first turn, whilst my banshee screamed at the skink chief on stegadon on the other flank. By the end of turn 3, I had wiped fully half the army, whilst my zombies had increased from 2 units of 20 to 2 units of around 70, more than enough to hold up anything. My Skellies went from 20 to 40 and I added a new unit of 20 skellies to boot. My poor Blood knights did not see any action as my opponent resigned ( I can't say that I blame him) without killing much more than 15 zombies (after raising everything back up again)
this is the third time I have fielded the new vamps, and it has been a push over everytime. I love the new units, and I am a long time vamp player, but this is not a fun way to play!

I know this seems a bit bandwagony, but I jumped on when the VC were announced to be the new army book update.

I've been having an extremely hard time winning, seeing as how there are competitive players at my shop. Daemons, High Elves, and Ogres all seem to just stomp me unless I am playing at 110%. Dark Elves also seem to be giving me a run for my money every time I play them as well.

Vampires can do very well against lizards as long as they don't go for a tooled slaan. If they hand us the magic phase then we can crush them with superior numbers due to raising. It sounds to me Jaeger that your foe made this error. If he had a decent slaan he could have quashed your raising and bitch slapped your hexwraiths back to hell.

I certainly don't think it is now particularly easy to win with vampires. Before the book was redone I won at least two thirds of the games I played, but since the release I have definitely lost more games than I have won. If people are wise to many of the vampires' new tricks then they become a certainly defeatable opponent. Not that I am complaining, we actually have to work for wins now. This means that unlike before when I took very little from a game, now each game is a learning experience and I actually feel proud of a win.

Sorry that that was ludicrously off the topic of the thread. I wouldn't use this purely because I wouldn't buy a thrall a coven throne and then make my general walk. If anyone gets to ride with the lovely ladies then it'll be the top dog of the army. And you can't get lore of shadows on a coven throne riding lord except in like 3000 pts and even then, not very well.
