Good afternoon all,

Is this the suitable forum to share pictures of my terrain? I kind of guess it is as no where else seems to be specifically for it!

Will a kind passer by let me know... and I will add some pictures!

Regards

Tom

EDIT:

Here are some pictures :)

Firstly, my Army Display Board (ADB), its 2ft wide by 1ft deep. Big enough to display a reasonable army I hope:

Secondly is my mausoleum, the building bit comes off so you can see the sarcophagus inside!

Let me know what you think! Comments etc appreciated. My FB page is linked in my sig if you want to see more WIP shots.

I will try and keep this log up to date with my current work. At present I am attempting to do a pond :)

RE: Terrain?

I am curious now I would like to see your undead terrain. I am going to start on some over next few months once main core of army is done. There is so many great kits out to modify and customise right now..

RE: Terrain?

Hey dude, thanks for the reply.

I am going to edit the existing thread with some pictures. I figure if the mods object it can always be moved!

Give me 5 minutes and there will be some pictures to see.

A very nice bit of terrain you have there Love the road you have done up.

Do you ever do commission or custom pieces?

Thanks Santawraith, kind of you to say so.

I do like the road effect, I am currently doing some small lenghts of freestanding walls with a similiar effect (like the walls on the ADB) for use in games.

Commission wise - I have never done so - but I would be more than happy to! I have been considering doing a few bits and trying to sell them, but haven't been too sure where to start.

I might be able to help ya there Ill send you a pm tomorrow.

Cant wait to see the walls,

Cheers Santawraith - appreciate it!

I shall crack on with the walls so I have more things to show off (my pond water is currently drying, so its not much to see yet).

Tom

Nice stuff! From scratch? I am so going to tag this thread. If my wife gets me a new digital camera for Christmas I will post my way awesome Charnal Pit. Very undead like.:skull: My phone camera is crap.

Really nice stuff I too dig the stone road! And the wall with the broken parts looks really really good!

Have you thought about adding some more shrubbery and/or plants to give it a bit of life to contrast the death you will add with models :)

Army painters battlefields tufts or Gale Force 9 springs to mind, they carries a lot of different things ideal for this kind of work.. Since it's a display board I know you can't overdo it but around the stationary things on the board, e.g. by the wall where you wouldn't fit models anyway.

I don't know if you know the guy but TerranScapes is a great terrain maker and is worth giving a look, he is really nice to answer questions, he started out small but now lives of of selling his terrain. So if you have considered doing commissions I bet you he would be willing to help you out!

Really great stuff!

Hi mate, thanks for the nice comments :)

I am planning to add some static grass patches - but was waiting for the varnish in the pond to dry (otherwise there would be a grassy pond!). I might get some of those 'tufts' as well though - thanks for the tip!

Terranscapes wise - I have seen his work before, it looks jolly nice! Much superior to my stuff!

Tom

Some walls, they arent greatly exciting - but hey, they keep the sheep from roaming free! I will make some more now I have worked out how to do them. Might do a wee bit of flock along the bottom edges for a bit of colour.

Evening all,

Been a while since I have updated things (apologies!)

Anyway... on with the update!

Two of my friends recently bought a Games Workshop Realm of Battleboard each. Having never really seen one up close I offered to paint them for them (for free of course :) ).

For the first one I had the able assistance of one of my other friends - as we had the week off work and were painting up his Skaven army (we painted over 200 rats, 5 war machines etc this week!).

The second one is all my own work (except undercoating - again Dan helped!)

Really quickly here is what was done to paint them up:

Glue on some kids playpit sand with wood glue (just patches on hills and here and there - to provide some grip on the slopes and more interesting textures)

Undercoat black (housepaint from B&Q worked for this)

Earthy/Muddy bits:
Drybrush Dulux equivalent to Calthan Brown
Drybrush Dulux equivalent to Vermin Brown
Drybrush Bleached Bone

Stoney bits:
Drybrush Shadow Grey
Drybrush Codex Grey
Drybrush Fortress Grey

Then paint any details (ie Skulls) whatever appropriate colour (ie Bleached Bone)

Sorted!

Here is one undergoing some extensive drybrushing!

Looking good

Must ask, did you use any flock and/or static grass?

Hey dude,

On the Realm of Battle Boards I didn't.

I'm considering adding teeny tiny bits in the crevices around the hill sections - any more than that would result in it all coming off in the bag in my opinion!

I kinda like the barren wasteland look - I figure its Sylvania!

Yea, that is the sensible thing to do I've heard, just thought some of the brown patches looked like it.

Ah yes! I see what you mean - those are just patches of sand :) and some are just where it got drybrushed up a bit lighter than other areas.

Have to say I really enjoyed painting them - great kit (if a bit pricey)

That piece is going to look great! Really like the idea about the pallets and fuel drums :) Which material are those cast in?

Thanks for the kind words!

The fuel drums and pallets are cast in polyuretne resin. So basically a resiny plastic.

It's pretty cool stuff :)

I will post some more pics soon - I have 3 tiles completed ready for paint and a outta underway.

Regards

Tom

Ps - we reduced the price of the fuel drum sets to £5 if people are interested.
