Aye, that's very strange, especially about sphinxes. They are really great and new, why do they put them out of production also - it's a riddle for me. It will be sad not to buy at least some of them before they disappear completely...

Especially that Nagash and other new undead minis are kinda vaguely egyptian. I expected more of them to get rid of grave guard and other gothic-themed undead at some point, as they are much more generic, at least in my opinion. But well, it's not the first time GW's decisions make little sense.

Aye, they act very strangely at times and only they know why they are doing what they are doing. I hope they know why. But at least now Undead will mostly remain the same, and that's more good than not.

I wouldn't be surprised if they rebrand and repackage some of the models, slap a price hike on them and make a new formation for Arkhan or Settra in the near to mid future. They only made the sprues for Necropolis Knights and Necro sphinx what, five years ago? Plenty money to squeeze out of them yet.

Quite the nice deal then. I'd say even better than the malignant one.

Either way, on topic, I feel bad for seeing some/most of the TK range gone. Though it doesn't suprise me as much. Half of the army (I'm looking at those skeletons..) were outdated sculpts.
The other miniatures however were some of the nicest ones around.
I can also imagine that they didn't really sell that well either, so scrapping them was probably a good choice on their part.

It's certainly possible, people say it's cheaper to order a new box than to try to let things be, for example, when the box is damaged. Strange, but still. And I agree that some models like sphinxes could have stayed. They are really perfect.

The Alliance book was the perfect opportunity to pick and choose models from the entire undead line and keep things like the sphinxes and ditch things like the fell bats and varghulfs that are ugly old models. Really a missed opportunity the way they just said yes to all VC models and no to all TK models.

I totally agree, throwing out the Sphinx would be a complete waste; I'm hoping for a little reworking of this and some of the other moulds to fit the new aesthetic.

No! Varghulfs are great! Honestly they're one of my favourite models. Yeah fell bats are awful but Varghulfs are great models. I am surprised people don't like them...why? I agree they are somewhat small for the hulking beasts they should be but otherwise everything else about them is pure awesome.

Ah I hope that GW bring back the tomb kings. I can't possibly imagine that so few TK kits were being bought that it was more cost efficient to get rid of the sculpts than to keep making them. I suppose if they have a sculpt of a tomb scorpion sitting in a machine and it is being used rarely and they have a space marine sculpt that could take it's place in said machine then it makes sense as the tomb king sculpt is a slow moving cog in a quickly moving system, slowing better selling sculpts from being cast because it's taking up the machine but still...instead of getting rid of them GW should have made them more desirable!

They're just redundant now with the vargheists and they're a finecast model which automatically gets a down vote from me.

Sorry, should have quoted I was referencing the above comment about Varghulfs. They are redundant now that we have the similar vaegheist model.

Nevermind :)

and yes, sad but true. They are not that bad as models but I agree that GW could remake them at least, I like the idea of a one bestial vampire, though we have also ghoul kings. But in AoS varghulfs can lead armies, so not that bad.
